WIW 1973 D100 Club cab longbed - 02/22/24 08:04 PM

So I was at a property sale and ended up buying a 1973 Dodge D100 club cab 1/2 ton truck. It’s complete and has lots of parts on it and was said to of ran 3 years ago. Normally I would part one of these out, but might be worth selling whole instead of cutting it up. Normally I would sell it complete, but sitting last 10+ years and CA paperwork nightmare makes want to break out the torches and start cutting. I might wash it, but that’s all. Any idea what a truck like this is worth guys?

I just sold a similar truck. Club cab 4x4 longbed. A/C. 440/4 speed. Pretty clean all around. I got $2200 for it with a good clean title. Ran and drove. Market decided the price on this one.

I have been looking for a heavy duty ladder rack like that and can't find any around here, of course you are on the other side of the world...LOL. A truck like that around here would be worth $4K if it runs, 400 or 440?

Not sure yet. The mud under is is soo bad that the county would marked the property as quicksand hazard. Hope to pull it out with some bobcats next week and drop a days pay at the local car wash and give it a good wash down and check for rattle snakes.

Just realized that since it’s a 1973 model and a 5 lug and not an 8 lug, this truck will have an 8 3/4 rearend.

Is there rust bubbling around the drip rails or is that just dirt? It looks to be a solid truck worth saving if the drip rail isn't rusted out. Too bad about the CA nightmare paperwork.

It looks to be the back of the bed has either a bad seal where rust got in or rust. It has a cover so it won’t be the cab. I was worried more about the vhs tapes and glad to see the titles had work related titles on them.

Sorry, re-read what you asked. No, the drip rails are not rusty. Mostly moss and dirt. Has a terrible paint on it, but the truck is pretty rust free with mostly mild surface rust that I can see (so far).

Never EVER look at VHS tapes without commercial titles. You'll be scarred for life. When I was in the Air Force in the late 80's, the base I was at in CA had a landfill on-site. Trash was collected by a contractor but dumped on the base. The guys that worked the landfill were working on a complete collection of Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler just from what they pulled out of the pile, and VCRs/camcorders were new enough that people weren't throwing away tapes, they would sell or trade what they didn't want any more. It was a 90% chance they if they saw tapes in the pile, they'd be homemade porn that someone didn't want in their household goods when they shipped overseas or back home. They'd stick in a tape every day at lunch, but rarely was it worth seeing...

After I’m done cleaning and checking for biters, I might just keep those cases in the back. Would be great for storage for some old magazine and car catalogs I’m not using. Drop off the electronics at e-cycle for veterans in our area. I’ll take pics when I dig it out. I did lift the floor mats up and the pans are clean with paint still on them.
