'79 Express Truck - 12/08/23 05:41 PM

Price does not seem terrible if it all checks out. They are not cheap to restore.

Sure looks good in the photos.
I see what looks like a radio-delete (more accurately, radio-not-ordered) plate, but either an antenna or antenna base/plug.

Agree, nothing is cheap to restore, and $25K wouldn't pay for a restoration.

That would be well bought at that price!

Would like to see underhood. Wonder if it still has V2 a/c compressor and the factory air cleaner. The bench seat and omni wheel don't help it but I agree, reasonable price for restored one.

Right year but wrong color interior for me to think about one

Strange no underhood pic. and no specifics as to what might actually be under there...

There were only two choices for interior colors. Red or Black. My 78 is red inside and my 79 is black inside.

I had 6 Lil Red's over the years, my daily driver was a 79 with red bench and Tuff wheel from 1987-1990, wish I would have kept it! Lil Red's are going for good money these days, $25K is reasonable for a rust free example... twocents

First thing I would do to that Express is ditch the ugly Omni wheel and put a Tuff wheel on it.

Well, that steering wheel was what they put on those trucks in 1979 so it's factory correct. laugh2

When they ran out of Tuff wheels that is what they used, anyone know what date it was when they changed over?

I know, Thus my comment. Black interior anything is out of the question for me

Part of me would like to own a Little Red express and it would have to be a 1979 ( better looking grill and hood ) But red interior AND factory air would be mandatory for me to even think about one.

Yeah, yeah I know. grin Just don't know what they were thinking by replacing the great sporty Tuff wheel on the 78 with that god-awful Omni wheel on the 79.

Thanks! I was wracking my brain trying to recall if any 79s had tuff wheels.

The 79 LRE that I owned back in the 80's had the as called Omni wheel in it.
It's not as cool as a Tuff Wheel, but not as bad as some seem to think. laugh2

I own a Lil Red i bought new. It came with a factory tuff wheel and wood rails on the bed.

My 79 has the tuff wheel on it. Someone swapped out the intake and carb and added shorty headers and wider rims. Been slowly trying to get it more back to stock without breaking the bank.
