dssaa- I have looked into this a bit in Colorado and see you live here too. Have you ever actually tried to title something here? I have not but it looks pretty difficult with a million steps and you get a bonded title for the first several years. My GTS is from New York (I owned it there) but it was a racecar from day one and NY only has registrations, not titles for pre- '73. I feel stuck and tempted to title out of New York or somewhere else.

I have done a bonded title before, it was a chore. Had to haul car all over the Denver Metro to get state police inspections and verifications...then DMV nightmare and then wait and wait. I have to go through that with a Pontiac I just picked up, but there is a think called the Vermont Loophole that lets you get a title from Vermont with just a bill of sale.....google it. I am trying that process now...but for that Charger...might be rust free, but its a hot mess everywhere else.

The car looks decent, the hood and the taillights are worth a couple grand by themselves. A solid N code 383 car at that price is worth dealing with the title issue. Vermont will register a car from any state, once you have a registration, you can apply for a title in your state.

That is a nice price. Depending on which state, it could be a breeze or tornado worth of trouble to do a title. California has a rule that if tha car is missing parts like a windshield, engine, seats, etc, they won’t issue a title, even if the CHP say it’s clean or if it even has a title.

The DMV told me the same thing about my Dart in Colorado. I wanted to get the title first, then restore. They said running/driving/complete only.

Here in Colorado he can only get a duplicate title from the DMV if he has the registration in his name. Otherwise get whoever it was titled last in CO to get a replacement title. Or get a bonded rebuilders title. Or get it titled in another state. Or get a tow company buddy to go through the abandonment route.
It has never been easy in Colorado but at least now we have the rebuilders route which we are the only state to do so.

That really is a decent price in todays market beings it is a complete N code 71 500 with what looks to be little rust issues.

Abandonment route sounds good.

Can registered dealers still do the vin inspection paperwork in CO? Would it need any already being in the state?

Who knows if it was last titled in CO? Only $10 to find out.

Good eye. Might have the AO2 driver aid group which includes low fuel , door ajar and seat belt unfastened lights. I would have thought that St. Louis would have put that on the tag. I had a 71 GTX with that once.

I have a couple cars that I'd like to get titled. My friend did a couple through the Vermont thing. Guess they send you plates and registration, you drive around for a couple months then go to the DMV for a CO title.

The seat belt light by itself didn't start until 72.
