Update: 34 Dodge floors - 10/12/09 10:50 PM

I been plugging away on the floors for my 34 Dodge coupe. Thought I would give an update. Last I posted I was trying to bend a trans tunnel by hand out of 16 gauge steel. After messing with that for a few hours I decided that it would not come out like I wanted it to. I found a guy locally that said he thought he could do(with thinner steel) what I wanted, with the tools in his garage. Turns out he had most of the tools you would find in a sheet metal shop. I gave him the trans tunnel template, and a piece of steel to play with and see what he could do. He called me the next day and wanted me to come by and take a look. I went to his house and there was my tunnel looking even better than I expected. I gave him the rest of my templates that day, and a couple days later he had all six pieces done. I spent this weekend installing the floor. Here are some pics.

Thanks Guys! I'm happy with the way it came out. I actually used 16 gauge for the main flooring where I sit and my legs and feet rest. 18 gauge for the rest of the non tunnel flooring and 22 gauge for the actual tunnel. I had brought the fabricator a piece of 22 gauge just to play with, but when he was done I felt it was going to be just fine with the thin stuff. It is actually quite sturdy.

Thanks! There is another post called 34 Plymouth coupe project that I posted with more pictures. This was before I found out it was actually a Dodge. It is three or four pages back.
