my new ride. 49 packard.

just picked this up on saturday. straight 8, 3 on the tree. going to keep it 6v. its a runner driver. needs some things worked out but it starts right up. it made the trip home 60 miles illegally. just going to get everything working and drive it. also want to root beer metal flake the roof, get some whitewalls, and some nicer hub caps. this is my first really old car.

dodge is thinking about peeing on it.

haha yea that plate is off my 69 econoline but i forgot to bring it when i went to get the car, so i drove home with a connecticut plate the seller gave me. found the car on craigslist.

I'm enjoying my 47 Windsor, hope you get as much fun from the Packard.
My dad and my grandfather took a train from San Diego to the Packard factory back in '48 to pick up my grandfather's brand new Packard. He owned that car and kept it perfect until he couldn't drive any more in the '70s. That was his one and only car in all that time. Those bring back memories.
They aren't real fast, they aren't real quick, but they are smoooooth!
Make sure you get a manual, I doubt there are many that have experience with those in the local garages!

There's a 49 Packard 2dr aerosedan in Dexter Mo. It looks to be in the same condition as yours. The guy wants $4000 for it and I've never seen another 2dr 49 Packard. Yours looks like a jewel especially coming from up your way.

That ride is ugly, and big, but I'd be cruising it with a huge smile. Not sure my wife would ride along, but I'd still go alone. A 2 door would be real cool, if only I had any money.....Gene

i added a bit of mopar to the packard, new yorker hubcaps. my skirts are on the way and i am driving to cleveland tomorrow to get a fulton visor!

BTW, are those '54 NY'er caps? They look like a set I've been thinking about using.

You'll probably find that you get a LOT of attention in that car.
