Re: my 36 updated pics - 04/06/09 04:47 AM

Nice start! Did you make the patch panel in front of the rear fender? Also are you going to use the rear panel on your parts car? Got any pics of it ???

Re: my 36 updated pics - 04/06/09 05:20 AM

Looks like you'replanning a chop. How much you taking out of it?

I like it...kinda looking at a 39 myself...

Re: my 36 updated pics - 04/07/09 12:39 AM

So what are your plans for the car, besides the chop?

I had a 39 Plymouth coupe, but I ended up selling it last spring. Had a 37 coupe project, sold it before I sold the 39 (the 39 was almost rust free AZ car), wish I still had the 37, but at the time I didn't figure I needed 2 coupes and the 39's body was so nice. Now I don't have any. Live and learn. Gene

Agreed. It would be nice to have one more mid/late 30's project on here. BTW: Are those glass rear fenders?

Looking good. I just started cutting for the new patch panels as well. Where did you get yours? Did you get them from Bob in Rhode Island? Bob supplies them to all of the resto shops out there.

I bought mine from Bob last year when I was working on the '36 and bought an extra set for the '35 at the same time. I was lucky enough to get some other patch panels he had made for his car that he isn't offering any longer. It's nice to find pieces that fit properly and are made by someone that knows what they are doing.

Re: my 36 updated pics - 05/03/09 02:05 AM

Congrats! the car looks like it's in pretty good shape. your situation reminds me a lot like mine. i have a '36 Plymouth coupe and i also had a '36 sedan as a donor car. this past winter has been the season for the body work, in michigan here that means you have a long time to get things done.
i was curious about the patch panels and also the rear fenders. i bought some patch panels for the same area you did, but i got them from some guy on the east coast. who is this guy Bob? are the rear fenders steel or fiberglass? reason being, i can't find steel fenders for a decent price to save my butt. anyway, good luck with your project,

its bob from rhode island hes on moparts all the time ill have him get ahold of you if you want he knows all kinds of stuff about these cars my fenders i have for mine are the ones off the 4 door car they are steel just need to snip it here and bend there tweek it a lil and wala you got a rear fender that fits pretty close just remember its only metal u can make it fit

Re: my 36 updated pics - 05/03/09 10:43 AM

Jason sure has come along way in a hurry with his coupe. He was real lucky to find a complete parts car for all the major parts he was missing. It's great to see his progress, it inspires the rest of use to keep moving forward on our own projects. It also shows that we're not alone in our goals, and that others are supportive of our efforts. It's nice to be able to bounce ideas off each other and get advice and coaching when we reach a job we've never tackled before. Great job Jason.
I supplied the patches to Jason and many others, and here are a few pictures of what they look like. Bob

did you make those ? if so really really nice

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/01/09 04:09 PM

Yes, I made them. I needed a couple of sets for my own projects (36 coupes), so I made a set of dies to press them out on a 110 ton press. Of course I made extra sets, and have been selling them to pay for the dies. Thanks, Bob

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/01/09 06:46 PM

Bob, I'm sure Lee meant "Sweet" but was probably also commenting on the "Sweat Equity" you have into them.

BTW: They are beautifully made panels. You have another very happy customer here as well.

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/01/09 07:22 PM

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad that they save everybody time. And I do take pride in making them and packing them per order to ensure the highest quality product I can make. I know what it's like to order parts and not really know what your going to get, so I strive to make sure people get a great product.
As far as the spelling correction, to be honest I didn't realize the misspelling until you pointed it out. I can't spell worth a d... so I don't catch things like that, or should I say that I read what I want to hear!
Thanks all, I appreciate all the great comments and will continue to make great parts and strive to meet or beat your expectations. Bob

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/02/09 08:04 AM

Bob, if we could just get you to make some other parts (ex. inner/outer rockers), that would be wonderful.
Posted By: BobPer

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/02/09 10:57 AM

Thanks for the encouragement. I don't have any plans of making them for sale any time soon, sorry. I have made them for my own coupe, but I'm trying to get some more work done on my coupe so I can get it in paint this year. Thanks again, Bob

Re: my 36 updated pics - 06/07/09 02:37 PM

Bob's panels are very good. they've worked well for me. as far as the inner/outer rocker panels, try plymouthdoctor.net . delivery is a bit slow but the product is pretty good. i re-checked the link to the site, i'm seeing plymouthdr.com . they both seem to work. oh well

Re: my 36 updated pics - 08/27/09 03:22 AM

I'd read these
http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/search.php?searchid=2930526

I do know that two big things are to keep them aligned to each other so there is no bind, and make them adjustable.

Check out suicidedoors.com. They use an s-10 as an example and it gave me enough direction to do the rear doors on my crew cab truck. Sweet ride and good luck
