Phoenix Craigslist '32 Plymouth listing - 05/11/18 06:10 PM

Boy that caught my eye, but looking at the pictures I think it's a '35. Anyone care to comment? If not a 35 what is it?
That trunk sure ruins the sleek lines of the body.

the first one i am thinking it is a 33 because of the suicide doors---the 32 had regular doors and the 35 had regular doors------but our local mopar guru said chrysler wasnt so much into model years---they would put one model out for 10 months and call it a 28 then follow that up with a model that would exist for 18 months----the actual model years had some blurring.....that second sedan is called a humpback because of the trunk shape---i think it is a 35-36.....

suicide doors or not, the coupe is not a 33 or 34 because of the body shape and the door contours. regardless, it looks like a neat project.

Well, I wasn't talking about the coupe, because I had a price filter on my search and it is above my range. But it is a '32, just like this one. Use of suicide doors was not consistent across makers and models, so just because the Fords started them in 1933 means nothing to a Plymouth. What is a dead giveaway is the grille, which is quite vertical on a '32 and had quite a bit of swoop/slant on the '33-34s.

But I was wondering about the sedan.

Sedan looks more like a 35/36. I think the windshield posts are laid back too much to be a 32 or a 33. Those years of Mopars still had pretty straight up windshields. It took the air flow years before my Chrysler laid bck the windshields. Gene

just for my review of brain matter lost, i looked up the 32 models in my standard catalog of chrysler, and 32 was indeed the first year for suicide doors in all models of the plymouth line. with that re-instilled in my fading brain space, i have to agree with gene on the sedan being 35-37, 38ish model year. keep kicking my head when needed guys, so i can re-learn what i forget. biggrin
