Craigslist Score - 12/05/16 12:32 AM

Scored a 2005 545RFE 5 speed automatic out of 2 wheel drive 5.7 Hemi Ram yesterday for $300, took 2 cans of degreaser and an hour with the pressure sprayer to get it clean. It came with dipstick and cooler. I will have it checked out and rebuilt if nessesary. It will go behind the 6.4 Hemi that's going into my 37 pickup

Good score.

Couple of questions.

What are you going to control it with?

Does a 4.7 have the same bolt pattern?

Way cool, nice score. Depending on how high you set the engine/trans you may have some floor modifications in your future.

good buy ! i'm guessing it is a good, running unit as is ? how many miles ? as it came with a dipstick, what year did the dipstick go away to where it takes the dealer to check the transmission fluid ? or is that a different transmission such as the six and eight speed units ? and as was already mentioned, what controller are you planning to use ? sorry for the many questions, but i really don't know much about these transmissions.

bow You did well ! Before the seller gets too much gone (if he had the whole truck) see if he has the starter. It bolts to the drivers side, which should make header selection easier if that's what you choose. Also, try to get the ECU if he has it. Hotwire or Bouchillon might be able to jack the tune up in that ECU to make your new crate motor run like it should, and it will also control the 545RFE without the need for a separate controller. You can add an Edge In Tune to it to boost engine performance and control shift points and firmness.

Mike, I always assented that there would be some floor modifications, after all is said and done I plan on welding the floor and lower firewall together as one unit rather than bolt on as it is now

I saw the truck it came out of, a 2005 Ram 1500 with 150K miles, I assume it to be a core but he swears it ran and drove perfectly, I will send ot out to a shop to be checked and rebuilt if needed before permanent install

I'm calling Hotwire today to plan my wiring to control it and the motor

Here's a little something to help you plumb that thing.

The torque converter stall speed is the only difference in the 545RFE.

I have one that came out of a 2005 Daytona pick up that was wrecked with a little over 34000 miles, I listed it for 6 months for $300 never got a call on it..
