I can't give you numbers, but we pulled a flathead 6 with a 3 speed trans out of a 47 Plymouth coupe and installed a 360 with a 727. If I (around 240 lbs then) stood on the front frame (which was directly above the springs) the car returned to the height it was before we swapped the motors (this was less sheetmetal). My guess is that would put the flathead 6 with its attached 3 speed around 650-700 lbs or about 100-150 lbs heavier then a 360/727. They were not light weight motors. Gene

Red Ram 241 - 270 580 lb. Source:
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Early_Hemi_engine_specificationsOn to the six cylinders:
Slant 6, 475 lb. I believe as the Slant was intended to be made out of aluminum, which would save about 100 lb, that the 218 would weigh something more than 375 lb. My thinking, the designers of the "new Slant Six" would have wanted to make the new six lighter and more powerful than the old flathead. Also, a similar size Studebaker flathead six weighs in at 404 lb. I would guess the complete 218 would weigh right at 425 lb.
Hows that for guesswork?

The smaller Six wasn't really that big of an engine. Now the 251 which was found in Chryslers would be about 100lb more, it was beefy.
Keep in mind that the Red Ram will have a center of gravity farther back in the chassis than the six, so there may not be all that much extra weight on the front end. That's if you put the engine towards the back of the engine compartment.
