Your thoughts on an old Plymouth

Yea the wife was not that happy with me... I assured her that I could make some money on it if I started to sell it... Magic word is if...lol

Pay today and pick it up tomorrow as my trailer is home in the country... But I cam going to lock it down for sure...I wonder what a baby hemi would be like in it.... Like the 354 or so.. I can put one of the 426 we have in it but think it will be over kill..

There is a member here (BigDad) who had a 440 in a DeSoto earlier than your '50, so who knows what you might make work.

IIRC '52 was the final year for the 3-window business coupe. There are actually neat-o speed accessories for that flathead. Dare to be diferent!

The tan one is a 1950. The red one is a 49. The one below is my 49 Plymouth Business Coupe.

52 was the last year of the 3 window. This is my 53 Cranbrook Club Coupe. It is the first year of having actual rear quarter panels, and not bolt on rear fenders. This car was also available as a business coupe. Basically a rear seat delete.

An old Hemi will fit just fine

Pull the inner fenders and remove the heater and the 426 will fit just fine. No such thing as over kill, long as I'm not paying for it.

There are disc brake conversion kits available for these cars. With the disc brake conversion (does a 52 still need the upper shock relocation?), and a modern rear axle, this era Mopars make great drivers. Gene

Well the old girl has a hurt front fender.. So she needs a drivers side fender and I need some grille parts. The fella bought it from a local military guy who bought it new.. He wrecked it and post made him get rid of it... So now I own it..

FORGET the old heavy stuff. Dropping a 700 lb 440 or 800 lb Hemi in the front end would kill it for driving.

It's not that heavy a car. Build it as a driver with a modern 5.7 Hemi and either 5-speed or OD auto. Keep the fuel injection and use something like a 3.55 rear and it'll be too good to be true. Shoot, a warmed over 5.2 Mag engine with A500 would get the job done. But I've got a burnin' in my belly for a Hemi swap that makes great power with economy so it can be driven hundreds of miles. After that is all put together you have to install air conditioning.
Also, use the stock frame with an aftermarket Mustang II suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. Fatman Fabrications or one of the million others you can find. Gotta have tubular A-arms.
