Long Distance Transport From West To East ??

60-year-old, running and driving car (daily driver) from Oregon to as close to Louisville, KY as possible. I "MIGHT" be looking for this type of open transport but not sure just yet ??

I've also considered driving it across the country and taking that challenge but my balls aren't as big as they used to be as I haven't done a cross-country challenge in an older car in a couple of decades and things have changed out there with all the creeps and so on, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I'm considering truck transport.

Naturally, I want to find the absolute best carrier available with the best rates available which will mean being transported on an 8 - 10 car carrier which is fine.

If you guys were buying a very good running and driving 60-year-old daily driver ... would you risk it or ship it ?? And if you ship it, based on what I have said, who would you trust to do the work and to offer a fair rate ??

Just had a car picked up and sent to Washington state via an enclosed 6 car transporter and it was about $1500. I couldn't do it for less than $3000 on an open trailer. I am going to Modesto, CA at the end of the month with an open trailer out, coming back empty so far. Call the broker that did got the transport out done, Alan Gold 678-956-6830 and find out what it would cost.

Thx !! I know it is pricey as hell but very understandable ... I thought of flying out and driving it back but I'd have 2 full days at minimum invested and in this day and age ... it scares me thinking about driving it 2300 miles and breaking down going through the mountains. I got a PM with a message saying to call this one transport company and their quote was about $1400.00 open on a multi-car trailer. I'd probably have that invested in a one-way flight and fuel/expenses coming back ??

Hope you are ok with salt on an old car if letting it go open. In 2021 I got quotes around two grand from west coast for enclosed to your area. Pilot, Horseless Carriage, and Reliable were about the same. I wanted guys who haul hobby cars. I’ve dealt with the Joe bob types people sent to get cars I sold. Nope. Ultimately this time I found a local car and didn’t use a carrier. In the old days I just hooked up a trailer and went myself so I could inspect the car. Don’t have the time anymore. Those were my kinds of vacations.

shipping rates have gone thru the roof in recent years.

When I had mine shipped from Cincinnatti Ohio to Tucson Az it was $1800 enclosed. This was Oct 2020
Last year I was quoted $1600 from same co. to have one picked up in Reno NV and brought to Tucson ( I drove up with some car guy buddies and we brought it home ourselves, open trailer . Cost me me about $1000 . But to hang with some good friends for a few days it was well worth it )
