Question for transporters

Question for transporters - 02/05/22 05:39 AM

I'm curious how your costs have increased, prices for some of the carriers seem to have increased a lot in the last 2 years.
I'm aware of fuel & tire prices, but it's been decades since I was doing any transport work, when it was basically $1/mile if we were loaded both ways.
A few years back, what I paid for a 2,800-mile delivery won't cover 1,000 miles now.

I am in the market for a new trailer, two years ago when I got my last 24' enclosed they could be had between $5K and $15k and up for the cheap to the middle of the road trailers. You can buy ones for over $25K if you think the quality is that much better. The low end is now $9-10K with most middle of the road around $20K now if you can even get one! Most trailer manufacturers can't build you one if you want certain options as materials are simply not available or will tell you that it will be 10-16 weeks, go ahead and try and buy one right now. Fuel is the main issue, tires haven't gone crazy yet but I am sure they will be as they are tied to oil and most are made overseas now... frown
