Pit vehicles..what have you got - 10/24/11 12:10 AM

I just picked up my new 4 wheeler after a failure of my old trusty steed, so what do the rest of you guys use for a pit ride.

Yamaha Razz and a Club Car golf cart. If I bring 2 friends to the track with me that usually means I still won't have a ride when I need it, so I will also bring my 21 speed bike.

My Dart. It's towed my Duster after it broke.

We also have a mini bike that some of you may have seen at Norwalk. Husband calls it his HOG. He looks like a doofus riding it.

I saw this at Lebanon Valley today,it's a lawn mower on steroids! it's got a ford 9" rear,8hp B&S engine with a clutch....Sounds like winter project for my old riding lawnmower!

Yamaha golf cart... it does almost 25mph so it works
for me and I have less than $1000 into it

I use an old, 26" beach cruiser bicycle. Light, maneuverable, doesn't take up much room and doesn't use any gas! The down side is that it doesn't have much cargo capacity and it sucks when I have to go to the opposite end of the track into a headwind!

I like the golf cart because IF I have any problems
with the car I can tow it back to the trailer, plus
it can haul equipment

Re: Pit vehicles..what have you got - 10/24/11 03:13 AM

Yea I have a tow strap and like the fact that I can tow it back if needed.

Yamaha gasser! Because I usually have the whole crew with me and it'll drag a 3000lb race car around if need be..just installed the flip down rear seat(into a flatbed). The wife especially likes it in Vegas and other big tracks when we're pitted way in the heck gone out there!

One of the fastest golf carts out there

It'll do 30 mph and I still have room for improvment

A "golf cart" is really the way to go. With a back seat they can haul up to 5 people and still tow your car if need be.

For a / pit vehical, you cant beat them for the price and quality.

In my circle of friends, we all own about 2 golf carts apiece. I own two Yamahas, The one un governed goes about 25 MPH.

Thats right !, about 1 MPH faster then then Mr P.Bodys Cart!

Here is a funny one for you, After a few drinks I got a ride back to my site with a fellow racer, both of us fare to drunk to drive, he must of thought he was still racing, he went flying through my Camp past my motor home took out the table, chairs and cooler and write over a bank, the Cart is sill on top of use in this first picture he was knocked cold and is on top of me pined in the prickle bushes. So instead of just getting me out of there friends took pictures first. The sec pic is me still in shock of what just happened, I was cut from head to toe.

Re: Pit vehicles..what have you got - 10/24/11 02:06 PM

I used this 84 Kaw 250 3 wheeler!! bought it new in 84 and started using it at the track around 1988. I has a locking diff that you can unlock for the pavement at the track, perfect for pulling because it has tow mount below the rear axle so it don't wheelie went pulling a heavy load.

Used it to pull a lawn mower at home for like 20 years. Still have it today and still use it around the yard.

When we started racing alcohol in 1996 they were no longer legal for us to use to pull the race car and plus there was way more stuff that had to go to the starting line.

The red dually or somone's truck was our tow vehicle to the TAD.

I would of liked to get a golf cart but i am limited on space in my trailer, plus I intend to buy a snow blade to help keep my drive cleared, not enough for a snow blower but more than I care to shovel,,,plus all the kid's are now moved out,,like that ever mattered

Get a bigger trailer

Re: Pit vehicles..what have you got - 10/24/11 06:59 PM

I have a Honda Areo 50 1986 model I bought for $300 about 15 years ago. I had a piston ring break on it the first day of the bracket finals one year at SGMP so I was there 4 days without a pit bike. I had a Pep Boys 50cc dirt bike given to me after that for a backup.

I'd love to have a golf cart but just don't have the funds for that right now and these two bikes are pretty good to me.

I've had them all, big quad, electric golf cart, now using a Yamaha Zuma. I loved the golf cart but since I usually race alone the Zuma works great is lighter and takes up less space.

.MIKE !!!!....been working like a dog... with the economy being bad lots of smaller shops have been closing down near us so we've been absorbing their clients and have actually been buying complete operations. So it leaves me VERY limited keyboard time.
Plus my sons Junior Drag Racing has overthrown ANY spare time I might have...we just took deliver of a complete new car for him(Motivational Tubing offers a big cage car for him) as he steps up in ET due to age..Huddleston Performance is building our 3 3/4 bore motors http://www.huddlestonperformance.com/790%20Heavy%20375%20Package.htm . He's also a pretty good athlete and is on Div 1 football recruit watch lists at 13 years old. He has verbal interest from 2 SEC schools(He carries a 4.5 weighted GPA in honors classes). So he's been going to lots of combines and playing games here. I'll try to sneak in more often...I miss this place at times REALLY bad....
Here's a pic of my 6'tall 210 lb size 13 shoe wearing 13yo on his 13th B-Day 10/1/2011

Now if I can find a good mechanic to fix the little one, I would make someone a good deal on it. Denny, eventually I am going to go to a gooseneck but I am not financially prepared to pull the trigger yet.
