Firecore distributor fitment?

Firecore distributor fitment? - 08/25/11 12:39 PM

Got me the new nice tall Firecore distributor and it's really a very nice piece. My problem is once I drop in the distributor I can't get the cap on and I tried the reg cap and the new HEI cap and they both hit against my tall fabbed valve cover. It hits real close to the top so I can't really ding the cover as it's right by the weld and I don't want to ruin them. It also hits my Indy bathtub intake but I can grind that down to get it to fit. Any suggestions short of now changing the valve covers which I really don't want to do.... Any other kind of cap or do I just stick with the old MP piece in there now?

Indy EZ heads if that matters

Thanks,
Russ

Well that is a bummer – the BFH might fix the valve cover – and if the grinder doesn’t fix the intake the saw-zall will! That is a real nice dizzy for the price. But I guess when I change your heads over to those proto-type trick flow – dual spark plug twisted wedgie heads we have been asked to R&D your going to have to get one of them dual headed monster distributers anyway - or run the coil packs with a crank trigger! Nothing but money man – just bust out some more……

If you had a smallblock you wouldn't have all those fitment problem's.........oh yeah,, thats what those new dual plug twisted wedgie head's are for,, the new ultra trick billet aluminum R3 block.

I bought a used set of Indy valve covers someone notched for the distributor. If you know someone who can weld aluminum just notch that one corner. There's plenty of room to do it without any rocker interferance.

We use small blocks for our lawn mowers - run with the big dogs or stay on the porch

Russ I have the Firecore with EZ's and MP valve covers and clears fine You may have to change covers or modify your fab units
