SFI Question - 08/04/11 12:40 PM

I am going to a different track this weekend. Talked to the track mananger who is a pretty good guy. He asked about my flexplate. It is an SFI B&M but the sticker is gone. Anyway I can get another sticker from B&M or is it a crapshoot? Ted

Re: SFI Question - 08/04/11 01:30 PM

I keep a quick reference card for tech that I keep up to date with all the sfi numbers, dates and serial numbers of all sfi components. I hand it to the tech guy and they are normally so blown away that they rarely even look at more than just my helmet and belts. I have never seen any tech guy go under a car to safety check any components. Like my bellhousing.....the sticker can't be seen with the trans in the car.

With that said, I bet you can't get another sticker without sending it back to B&M for inspection.

Thanks,Brian! The card is a good idea! I think I know a couple of guys that use that method. I think you are probably right about the flexplate..

No one will hand out a SFI sticker.... as for the
flex plate... no one has ever looked at mine and I
dont ever remember anyone asking about it... belts,
helmet, ground on the fuel cell, dual carb springs
are about all they look at

It is in Iowa... The place is surrounded by cornfields.

Ted, I wouldn't worry about tech at Tri State. You will be fine. it's the driver I would worry about.

Re: SFI Question - 08/04/11 05:41 PM

Mine's never had a sticker and I've never been asked

Have read some recent posts of some SFI certified flex plates cracking though.
Won't be long before SFI bolts are mandated and have to be replaced every 2 years

Yupp...NHRA and SFI are strange bedfellows..Always finding a way to dig into the racers wallet! Saturday is supposed to be warm but a lot less humid! I think we will load up tonight and leave early in the morning.
