i spun a bearing ,can the rod be resized or is it junk, it doesn't look black but it did get warm

check that thing with a fine tooth comb- everything. by everything, i mean the whole engine. top to bottommus. the rod will probably need to be resized. replace the bolts, and maybe the rods themselves. find out whahappen, and make it good!

If it discolored at all and requires resizing I persomally won't reuse them. A single rod doesn't cost that much to replace, no matter which rods you have. Just my

I will very rarely re-use a rod that has a spun bearing, even though it may look reconditionable. Can it be done? I suppose. Should it be done? No.
As an example, often times when a rod or main spins on a crankshaft, it almost always induces enough heat to actually bend the crankshaft. It is often common to check a crank after either one of these failures and find from .003 - .006 runout or bend in the crank, and you can look at the crank and think it could have hardly been damaged. If its a stock rod, then I definately would NOT re-use it. An aftermarket Hbeam, well, much better chance, but you'll need to pull the dowel sleeves, re-size it and check the rod on a Sunnen or similar rod straightener for bend and twist....

i also have a spun bearing in my motor. it was perfect until my ring gear came apart. when we repaired the convertor and replaced the trans case i had low oil pressure. found #3 rod bearing bad and all my mains to the copper. i have elgin h-beams and are not made any more. problem is my motor is balanced with 835 gram rods and the heaviest ones i can find are at least 780 grams or lighter. so what are my options other than resizing my rod or replacing all rods and rebalancing

i have sen stock rods vary .008 in lengths in the same motors, must have been Monday or Friday motors 
don't forget that the heat treat is toast also so throw that expence into the decision making process BTW, what type and brand rod?

improper crush, rod bolt issues, or lubrication. beyond that could be anything.

Debis, rod elongation, improper fit of the bearing, to tight of clearnances, revving the motor to high on start up when cold before having oil pressure, same thing when hot, to thick of oil, the list is endless On clearances looser is better, cleanleaness is next to Godleaness when assembling motors, you can not keep them too clean
