Know where I can buy a carbide burr like this one? - 07/06/11 10:50 PM

I saw it in an older Steve Dulcich article and it looks like it would be handy for the port matching exercise I need to do on my welded-up intake runners.

Not that one... (I just looked at their online catalog).

I suspect this was somebody's (Roger Helgesen) custom burr and not typical of what most suppliers offer. I'm sure I have something already that'll work, but thought the one pictured above would be better suited to a specific job I have to complete.

Did you try Grainger? They sell single cut, flame end burrs, just not sure if they're that long.

Edit...Try this web page

Enco and Rutland Tool have better deals than Grainger or McMasterCarr.

That flute spacing looks like aluminum vs a cast iron cutter?

Here is a page from out of the ENCO catalog.

The tricky thing may be the shank length - I believe most of these are shorter - though it should give a good starting point. Hope it helps, in your search.

I get some of the burrs I use from BLP Products here in Orlando. I get some special or custom burrs from Mondello Performance in Tenn.

Brad .... just to be 100% "correct" in the description of this part(I am surprised that no-one has mentioned this earlier-I furgot to) ...

what you have pictured is a carbide CUTTER ... not a burr. A cutter will tend to walk-around on you(muchO more than a burr) .... and if that happens in the port and then starts banging-around ... it could either severely bend the shank of the cutter ... or/AND damage your grinder..
