what will it run?? - 05/04/11 04:52 AM

I'm curious what everyone thinks our roadrunner will run with this new combo?

70 rr. 3900#, 440 12.5 to 1 compression B1/brodix heads, 696 roller 850 holly double pumper M-1 intake.5000 stall 4.86 gear.super stock springs 29.5/10.5x15 slicks

hope to get it out in the next week or so and will know for sure.

Which B1's ? porting.
But I'd say 10.9's are feesable!

Not sure which B-1 but I'm lead to think there B/S'S.They have the max wedge port's that are ported.

With your overall gearing the best that you can run is about a 10.60 to 10.80 @ 7300 to 7500+ RPM

Think it would like more carb?

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 01:47 PM

10.9??? I'd guess much better than that. You might have too much gear depending on tire size. I'll guess 10.50's and you might need a 950.

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 01:51 PM

Id expect it to run much faster then 10.9 !!
I'd be hoping for at least the 10.50 area

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 02:06 PM

Doug its possible to run a 10.40 to 10.60 dependent
on the conv slippage and what your dad want to spin
it to but I'm sure it'll want way more carb... more
like a 1050

Mike,
We have a dominator going on it after we get all the linkage and mounting brackets in, and will be swapping out the gear for a 4.56
Car's been sitting too long waiting on parts and stuff, so putting the 850 on and going out to see what it will do.
I think dad would be happy with a 10.99999999,

Thats what we figure, but was curious what everyone thought its potentual was past a 10.999,

Fun to see what people say, and then see what it does.

Doug...3900lbs.??? I hope that's with your dad in the seat! Even then, that seems real high! My GTX,with me(235lbs.)in the seat, weighs 3735lbs. Where did you guys get it scaled...Milan? I'm skeptical about that weight!

Good Luck I never was able to get any of my B-Body cars off the line with that small of a tire. But its been over 10 years since I raced a B-Body so the tires should be much better now.

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 04:52 PM

Bill..I'm running a 29"x9" slick...with good traction,the front tires leave the ground.

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 04:58 PM

Should run in the 10s, I agree with Labratt, 3900 lbs. seems a bit steep, unless your 350 lbs. , It'll run better with a 4.56 gear & a 29" tire, The 950 is a smaller carb then the 4781 850, I think the 850 will work good, but like mentioned, A 1050 Dom. should work better with those heads/cam.

WHAT? How much convertor slip does he have 50%? Have gone wat faster then that with the same gear and smaller tires and turned that rpm.

Randy that was with me in car.I went about 250 at that time.I weighed it at Milan and 131 and both times it was within 25#.We have a 10 point M/S cage and it's all steel with all it inside still there. And as you can see in the picture we got a little air on a easy leave, about 3000rpm.

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 07:51 PM

I was thinking 11.00. But the porting on the B1-BS heads makes all the difference from Edel RPM to Indy EZ.

That is a lot of weight to move.

Re: what will it run?? - 05/04/11 08:15 PM

First I'll throw out a guess just for fun, and I'll just say 10.84 for no particular reason It just seems to make sense right now....

Second I'd like to know what the secret is to getting a car weighed at Milan? After about 10 times of "the scales are broken" and "there's nobody there to do it" I gave up asking...

Zippy,it was a national event.Jim the car went 11.40@98 getting out of it at half track with the old set up ,of eddy head and a 590 mopar cam and the 6 pack on it.

Of Course, its a heavy car

No I used a conservitive 5% and 8% calc for vert slip. With a base MPH of 126, for a best ET of around 10.6 since its a heavy car.

MPH x gear x 336/ tire diameter + X vert slip.

I think the OPs car has 10.5 potential But that 4.86 gear and 29.5 tire will limit its ET potential by RPM

Id say 10.9,s are in the bag with the New combo for starters.

my old 67 coronet weighed 3850 w/ me and 1/2 tank of gas. (I'm about 185) I'm sure his GTX w/ dana and a heavier driver could be close to 3900.

Sooooo, any work done to the heads? BS heads flow OOTB is pretty bad, esp at lower lifts?

As bad as BS heads are OOTB, if they havent had some work, Id say high 10s.....

Re: what will it run?? - 05/05/11 01:58 PM

At Race weight my old 67 Coronet R/T with dana 60 & Big block topped the scales at a tad over 2800 lbs.And another 230 lbs or so for me. There was not much more than a hull with a cage left,in other words I ruined a extra nice 67 R/T. I won 2 Track Championships with it & it also was a Killer Grudge Race car. I won enough $$$ with it to have my 1st dragster built.
