If you are on the edge of detonation while cruising around and not racing,you might be better playing it safe with a mix though.

Last year I mixed 50% Turbo blue and 50% 93 pump gas. Is this a waste of time or does it help. My 440 engine is only 10.75-1 compression so it will run on pump gas without a problem. Thanks

I go through this debate every year. My motor is supposedly 12:1 or close to it. It runs perfectly fine on 93 octane on the street even with me pounding on it every now and then. But before I go to the track I go through the hassle of driving 20 minutes each way to put one gallon of 110 Cam2 in each jug for added security, it's a pain. My biggest fear is getting a batch of crappy pump gas and melting my motor, but I guess there could be a bad batch of race gas here and there. I think I'm perfectly fine on straight pump gas but afraid to try it at the track. I only have 150 cranking compression with my camshaft, also have aluminum heads and only run 36 total timing.
