Or professional. I have given up trying to keep the glycerin inside my Autometer fuel pressure gauge.
I have disassembled it enough to drain the liquid but I would like to remove the film with a solvent.
Hot soapy water does not work, has anybody been successful at this?

glycerin is soluble in water and alcohol so if water ain't cutting it go to Alcohol. Methyl/Denatured even Rubbing (isopropyl) will work

Agree on the alcohol. It is also soluble in ethylene glycol. Try a bit of pure EG based antifreeze and then rinse with water. Either that or an alcohol should take good care of the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know how it works.

Here's my report:
Soapy hot water and household rubbing alcohol just turned the glycerin to small globs of jelly.
So I tried lab type isopropyl and it still did not dissolve the glycerin but it sure did remove the lettering from the gauge face.
Lesson learned.
