Hp question - 03/24/11 05:58 PM

Is there any way to calculate or ballpark what a engines hp is? I know it will be a ballpark fig without using a dyno but im curious

Mph from a drag strip run can get you close. Other than that, it is pretty tough without at least a chassis dyno pull to get a value for hp. Keep in mind that all results need to be corrected to a standard, like a dyno does.

Some of the on line calculators like Wallace racing have a HP formula, plug in the answer for your parts and enjoy. On the MPH and weight you have to remember the converter is not 100% effecient so that can play havoc on the outcome
