Spring is here.... You racing yet?

Spring is here.... You racing yet? - 03/18/11 09:08 PM

Today being the first day of spring, I can't help but wonder how how much of the country is racing already.

This time of year in the Northwest is about as frustrating as it gets. Rain, Rain, and more Rain!!

I got my new ET Drag Radials mounted up the other day, and can't wait to get to the track and see how my off-season changes pay off, but around here, we're probably still 6 or 8 weeks away (sucks!)

You guys??????

Heck, I'm half way through the season! Race #6 is tomorrow ( out of 12 ). The only month I don't race is July - too hot.

In a few weeks I'll pull my back up engine out of the
car and put the W-9 back in... other than that I have
to wait.... it'll be a bit before the tracks open

Yeah Bill, I still have a full tank of fuel in my snowblower, I never drain it out until mid-April.

They tried to open up at Edgewater last week, but they only got 17 cars. The Ohio river was at 56 feet, only a couple feet away from flooding the track.

Raining right now, more for Sunday.

Drove the car to work today. Might head down to Woodburn soon if the weather cooperates to blow the cobwebs out the car, but mainly me. Otherwise i'll be hanging on until April 16th, 17th for Pacific's opener.

Wish I could. It simply wont quit raining here. Thinking maybe of taking up sailing, or Arc building. Made it out ONE time so far this year with any success. I am racing in Vegas next week with no real data to go off of and a new combination with a total of 4 passes on it. Only three of which were on the stop. So call me a first round duck but gotta go.

Dustin, do you trailer to Woodburn, or does the Dart sing all the way there and back?

Re: Spring is here.... You racing yet? - 03/19/11 05:50 AM

I trailer when going long distances because I can. If I had no other options I would drive the car. Its a car, i'll drive it and race it. If it breaks, i'll fix it.

Going to Raceway Park tomorrow, had car all loaded up to go last week but had a cold and didn`t feel well. Points don`t start at my home track ( Island Dragway) until the first week in April.

Not yet. The weather is good, but I have to get my new Toyo slicks mounted yet. I have tickets to go watch a boxing match this Saturday. This will be a new experience for me.
Triple Threat, I like your attitude!!

Saw on Kanawha Valley's web-site (Winfield, W. Va.) they are going to have a Test/Tune and swap meet March 26. Sounds good, but a little too early for me...car is still in the trailer,,maybe in a couple weeks I'll be ready.

Car is still in the trailer full of anti-freeze.. ..By the end of the month hopefully I will have my motorhome..truck and trailer ready. Blow the dust of the Arrow and hit a gamblers race before heading up to Dunn Tire for a 2k race. Then points at PRP with a few IHRA races and big $ deals sprinkled in.

The Porsche dealer I work at is envolved in some road coarse stuff so I will probably be doing some of that also..

Hey Chapper, keep me informed about Kanawa valley,I have family in Athens and try to make it down on occation, was last down there a couple of years ago and the track was terrible and I have been hearing that they were not going to open this year after the sale fell thru, would like to come back this summer,,I always liked that track and a friend of mine, Jeff Johnson and his dad with the "Fast Forward" dakota run's there.

We've had two scheduled races this year.. one was called due to rain and the other was a 1st round red light.. (sigh)

Every Saturday is TnT at our other track.. however its pouring buckets today and rain is forecasted everyday for the next ten days.... (dbl sigh)

Re: Spring is here.... You racing yet? - 03/21/11 04:12 AM

I drove my 79 "300" 150 miles one way to sikeston last night and ended up in two finals. Foot brake I was .497 red and dead on 7.420 on 7.42 dial. Then 10 minute later in Pro I dialed 7.41 and went 7.405 on 7.41 dial. It was a 6.03 dial in Rustang in the other lane and I took .035 stripe cause I did'nt judge him right. I thought I was going to double up and got two runner ups. Still had alot of fun though. The 150 mile drive home in that loud a$$ car in the rain was'nt so much fun. Cheap day to race as the "300" got near 14mpg there and back. Car used 21 gallons of gas to go 300 miles on the highway and 7.5 gallons to make 19 1/8th mile passes.
