I had to go to the track after beating all of the local"fast " street cars in my area, nobody would play with me anymore, even for fun
I was introduce to power and speed at around 17 yrs old when a freinds brother in law took me for a ride in a street roadster he had made out of old car parts, 1930 Model A frame, 1923 Dodge roadster pick up bucket, home made sheet metal pickup bed, 1957 Oldsmobile J2 engine and three speed stick trans and a 1949 Olds rear end mounted into the Model A frame. That old street rod spun the dog snout out of the 8.20x15 recap bias ply tires
fishtailing back and forth in 1st and 2nd gear like crazy
I loved it
Been hooked every since
I did quit once in 1988, I took up flying because I always wanted to do that, I found out that flying was a lot of work and not much fun, unless I was doing aerobatics
Thats a hoot
I've dranked, chased women, but I didn't catch many
, but I caught a real keeper, my wife of 46 yrs
I've rode motorcyles in the desert at or above the safe speeds
, dune buggys also.
Had a ski boat and so on.
Drag racing keeps coming back to me, I don't think there is a cure
In all honesty I like building cars and making them go fast safely, I like beating the competitors, even when where friends
Maybe someday it(the need) will go away, maybe not
