Going To Look At My New Hood - 02/23/11 07:44 PM

The Wife and I are headed over to watch the shuttle
launch tomorrow and by chance AAR is within a couple
of miles of the launch/cape... so we plan on stopping
in to check it out and to also see how they package
it for shipping.... I'll be taking it home but not
tomorrow.... we leave this place on Saturday and plan
to head down to the Keys for a day or two then head back
up to Palm Beach area to check out Jimmy at PBIR for
a couple of days.... during that couple of days I'll
run up to Cocoa and pick up my hood and just leave
it in the hotel room till we head for home after
the PBIR event
Oh yea... they called and said it was done... well
they didnt call I called them... but its done and
they tried to call but they wrote down the # wrong
but its done

Ah, the smell of fresh fiberglass in a warm motel room , can't get any better than that. bet your wife won't have the same opinion.

Steve, she's not bad with it... I've made plenty of
glass parts at home and of course got resin on some
clothes and she didnt bit.h other than me trashing the
pants ..... plus she wont have a choice
I'm not taking it to the track and leaving it strapped
on the roof

The launches are cool to watch. The GF & I where down that way a couple of years ago. Did the tour & saw the shuttle in its hanger? Didn't see it launce, but they told us they where launghing a rocket so went went for that. 2 mis attemps & finally it went. They told us about a public park & down at the end was a point where a canal was. Said it was free & pretty close. It was spectacular. Happend quick. Have the camera ready. Was about 500 people there. Many from other countries. It was fun. Enjoy!

Yo P ... you better have a back-brace on when you lift some of their parts .... SOME are almost as heavy as the steel

I went and looked at it yesterday... looked good and
it wasnt bad on weight.... we talked a bit on some of
the other parts he has for a Rampage but I dont think
its anything I need.... I also decided to just have
it shipped so I dont have to worry about going through
any storms and having a soggy box falling apart on
the roof of the Jeep

aar is weird! they have a hood for a car/pick up but they dont make a cowl for abody c udas

Looking through the shop they dont make a bunch of
stuff... the guy has 3 or 4 mopars in there(all his)
but they also work on boats and other fiberglass things

Yeah I got it earlier today.....was hoping maybe you decided to stay an xtra day.....would have been great, I'd come out Wed, but have work related commitments to tend to.....next time

So you think they have others make LOTS of the stuff they sell ? ... how large is their shop ?


HOW is that motel/hotel bill ? ... or are you RVing it?

They make the stuff there... the shop was 4000+ sqft
easy.... plenty of molds but things are slow so he
only has a few people working

We rented a house for the month but when we head to
the Keys we will rent a hotel room for 1 night then
we stay at a hotel for a couple of days on the way home

Nope this will be on the conservative side when it
comes to the paint.... but I dont know what color
I will paint it..... so , nope, no bent wrenches for
me.... if I do put some type of flame on it would be
a ghost flame ... but I dont know... thats MONTHS away

It might be time to consider a Mopar RV ..

So how much do you think housing-costs were this whole trip?

All together $2500... thats the house with a heated
pool and hotel rooms for the travel and Key West...
sure not getting a nice RV with that AND a pool...
We have a RV but its small and doesnt come with the
heated pool.... plus the fuel prices are STUPID...
I cant wait till I have to buy diesel

Yeah Mike it's only $3.75 a gal up here.Saw E-85 for $2.85 and reg is $3.45.

The NICEST beach is there ... that is the Fort Zachery State Park .... the SW part of the island.

BEAUTIFUL water there. Now if you go about 4 miles EAST ... there is a CLOTHING OPTIONAL beach THERE.
