1964-65 Dart Pictures and Ideas - 02/23/11 12:03 AM

I have a 1964 Dodge Dart and I was thinking it would look good as a Pro Street/Drag Car but not sure. Does anybody have any pictures or ideas?

This was a 66 Dart I had some years back. I use the 69-1/2 6pk scoop and I really liked it. Ron

Chassis. Engine setback setback seventeen inches. Too much, would be better at about ten with the same wheel base position as mine.

Here's a shot of a good friend of mine's '66....It's been 10.70's with a small block, Eddy heads and mild roller cam by Porter, 1 5/8 headers, M1 single plane, 850 Demon carb......5,500 converter........drives it everywhere.........

Not many responses to this thread. I have only seen a handful(if that) of prostreeted 63/66 Darts. Some may be mini-tubbed but thats about all. Not sure why this is...most Dart guys seem to prefer the more "modern" lines of the 67 thru 70s type. heres one and I think I have one more.

We put it together as a street car. It has a 273 auto in it but we plan on putting a 408 in it and making the car all around more aggresive. 1964 Dodge Darts are rare but it is even more rare to see them as street/strip cars so I figured it would be a unique project. I'm tryin to put up a picture of it but no luck. [image][/image]

Lower a couple more inches. Would not want to be the guy who has to remove the rear wheels and tires. I raised my wheel opening about 2" when I stretched my 65 Barracuda. I know you have a body line on the Dart that is right over the wheel opening not sure how you would deal with that. Love these cars though.

It's street legal, fast (but not THAT fast) and it's a 4 speed.

Ricers fear me , other muscle cars respect me , police constantly screw with me....

Every once in a while , I will have someone inquiring about if I make fiberglass, hoods, fenders, bumpers, front valances for the 63-66 Darts. I tell them that I don't make the parts , but I would if someone would loan me some parts to mold from. And yes, it will screw up your paint job. I made the molds for the 64-65 Valiant / Baracuda, and I have sold absolutely zero parts out of those molds except for the Super Gas car I was building them for. Is there someone out there making parts for the 64-66 Darts?

Yes , there is............I hope.
Because I sent him a check for a hood on Wednesday.
He is out of Toronto.
http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/catalogue.html
He didn't have one in stock but told me three weeks would do it.
450.00 shipped to Mn. for a flat pin on hood.
I am going to add a cowl.........he could have , but I am not sure how tall I will need yet.

A lot of guys used to.
Is your guy one of them , or does he still make them ?
Since I am betting there are a couple of guys in Ashtabula , maybe you could ask your friend if he remembers which guy it was ?
I scoured the planet for sources for this stuff.
I even know a guy who has a mold , but he is here and then mold is over there. ( You can't make this stuff up. )
His Dart........as seen in this thread........is as light as it is fast.
If the two of them get back together any time soon , I will probably have another one made with a scoop that I like.
I saw an early A with a shaker and that looked pretty nice.
But I'll be needing something soon , so I jumped on this deal.
I'll give the scouting report when it arrives.

dart4forte's Identity Crisis Dart is in the UK now, here's a pic I took of it at Shakespeare County Raceway last September. A really nice car, I think it's running a Chevy engine.

Ths is Larry at Sled City. We are right now making parts for the 65 Dodge Dart. Hood, fenders, trunk, front and rear bumper and front lower valance. Someone from Cinci. came up with some good parts to mold from.

No , I saw it and spaced it out. It has been a whirlwind of activity here and not all of it good.
I would like to make a couple too , but time and money are a premium right now.
Let me get retaining wall #2 finished in a couple weeks and I will see how the land lays and give you a buzz.

Re: 1964-65 Dart Pictures and Ideas - 04/24/15 04:02 AM

As a follow up , the hood I ordered from Showcars in Toronto took nearly a year to arrive after a stream of messages , calls and worry.
I figured I would never see the hood or the money and found a hood from a private party that had the scoop I needed , sealed the deal and the next day , got a call from a trucking company telling me they had my hood ready for delivery.
I thought it was awful fast , so I asked.......it was the hood from Toronto.
Quality was dismal.
Coupled with the lies and poor customer service , I'd carve one out of granite with a teaspoon before I gave them another chance.
