440 turbo ??? - 02/12/11 03:55 AM

I have a 440 .30 over with 9:1 Ross pistons, 440 source rods and a steel crank with pro comp heads. I was think about a S 480 with 1.32 AR. The car will certain to 7.50 and has a 16x33 tire. I want to drive it on the street 50/50. Has a T400. What gear do you recommend? Will be building a bigger motor after the learning curve.

3.55
Don't think you will need a Bigger engine! That turbo is good for 1150 hp.

Ditto on the bigger engine. How heavy (or light) is the car? That combo will easily go well into the 8's at 3000#.

Thanks for the input. The car should be about 3300 lbs all steel with 3/4 chromoly chassis.

weight does not hurt nearly as much as N/ A
compared to a turbo combo. In many cases it causes the turbo to work harder faster and aids in building boost.Andy Jensen's outlaw Corvette used a low first gear but shifted into second by the 60' mark.It was done to trick the turbo into thing it had more weight to pull. it built the boost super quick but by then it was already in second gear and flying .
Your car might need higher low gear to save blowing the tires away or standing the car up on launches.

Thanks for all the input. Now does any body have pictures of a turbo BB in a stock early B body engine compartment without cutting out the wheel wells.

the car has 16x33 tires but you want to keep the stock inner fenders? cut it up make it work, then when you want to do a resto just put them back it's just metal.

Cutting the car up is not the issue. The car will never be restored back to stock. With me wanting to drive it on the street and keeping the motor clean is the issue.
