Camshaft suggestions 528 hemi a la race hemi - 02/04/11 02:32 PM

Hi,
I'm soon finish with my 528 hemi short block. When calculate and a mock up of one piston, it will be 10.5:1 compression after "decking" the block at the machine shop.

I will use:
-Aluminum heads
-Magnesium crossram intake
-Dual holleys
-10" 3500 stall converter
-3.91:1 gears
-29" high grooved slicks
-TTI headers

What cam do you guys recommend, I will go mechanical roller camshaft - thats for sure.

Thanks and Cheeeers!

You didn't state your intentions and expectations for the car. I would guess from the tall gears this is a Saturday night special street car. Now I'm not bragging here but I probably know 1/100th as much about hemi engines as Bob George. A 244 @ .050 duration and .620 lift will be radical with your converter but still put you in the 600 to 650 HP range.

intake flow would be relative to my choice. Over/under camming is a common hemi problem

Thanks for the advices. The car will be pretty much street but mostly drive to the track, go the 1320 and drive home and smile (I hope).

Love the belv!

Any particular cams with part # advices?

Cheers!

That's a good cam,but even being Bob George I would need a lot more information to make a recommendation.Weight, carb sizes, and etc.A good roller we frequently use for steet/strip would be in the .600+ lift and mid 260 duration @.050.We combo it out with 4.10 gearing,4000 converter,10.5 to 11.C/R,at 3200#/3500#,with 29" to 30" tire, single 1050 carb or two small 4150s.

Thanks for the response. I have some info in the start of the tread. But the car is about 3600 lbs, I will use the dual hemi 770 holleys (new ones).

Do you sell cams?

Thanks!

240 duration @.050 is way to small to feed that size motor and make it sound like anything a hemi that size should, with your comp and motor size and want sreetable power band id go 255int and 253ext duration @ .050 and 632/622 lift 108lsa 104ilc solid roller 260 degree cam on the street will be a dud unless you have at least 11.5 to-1comp in your 528 or 12-1 comp in a 426-477 cube hemi
