Care to guess ?

Care to guess ? - 12/05/10 03:31 AM

I'd love to hear any input as to what kind of output I can expect with this deal.
The machine work is done and all I need to do is #1 pay for it , #2 assemble it , #3 install it and build headers , #4 take it out and dyno it.
#5 order converter and finally #6 re-install and have fun.
48 degree R-3 block.
3.79 stroke
4.125 bore
Solid roller .668 lift on both sides 260 & 268 duration @ .050 , 106* C/L
13.0:1 flat tops with .039 quench
W-9 heads 2.14 dia. intakes , 1.6 dia ex. 1.6 T&D rockers
flow for int. is 234@.300 , 295@.400 , 334@.500 and flat lines at 349 from .600 on
Ex flows 186@.300 , 225@.400 , 243@.500 , .250@.600 , 253@.700
They were ported with mid lift in mind and I am really happy with the numbers.
It will have a 950 h.p. Holley set up for E-85 sitting on a MoPar W-9 open plenum intake.
I made a few concessions in the over all build since this will see a bit of street use , and could have coaxed a lot more flow out of the heads and ran a lot more cam.
It will be a wet sump , with a Charlie's pan / tray combo.
Headers will be 1 7/8" primaries in the 35 inch neighborhood with a 3 1/2" collector
I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be pulling for a good bit after I was hoping to be shifting at.
I was thinking that a peak around 6,500 r.p.m. in the interest of longevity and street manners would be a safe , sane target.
But my gut tells me that this one will want to rev somewhat higher.
It has a BRC crank and Crower rods , good parts upstairs too.........though it is a steel rod motor.
If I was going for 7,500 + r.p.m. I would have went with aluminum rods from the get go....now I think I am going to be closer to that number than I envisioned.
I don't see it as a problem , but it isn't following my preconceived game plan when I started on this adventure.
This is my first small block MoPar , so a lot of the decisions were " shooting from the hip " , but I do think I will be happy with the results.
I just am not too sure what they will be.

cant say much about the combo, except dont worry about a high rpm engine on the street, i have done lots of streetdriving, even daily driving a litle 340 that would turn 7500rpms effortless lots and lots of times, when its all built right with the right parts that kind of rpm wont be a problem, just takes alitle time to get used to having a mean sounding idle

Those are some nice flow numbers. My guess would be about 660 HP, and around 600 lb/ft. With those exhaust flow numbers, it seems like you should be using headers with 2" primaries.

I'll bet 693HP @ 7600rpm.
