Buy some big tires and do some testing on the surfaces in similar conditions that you will compete on I have two sets of tires mounted up on similar rims,(same brand and style, one set of ten inch and one set of twelve inch ) both are the same size M/T ET Street DOT tires, one set is the radials ET Streets and the other stet is the bias ply ET Street Tires, the bias plys work better on the street and the radails are faster on a good track My car runs low tens on pump gas corked up on motor only, 3450 lbs with me in it

Believe it or not, plain old Coca Cola and a tiny little bit of water mixed in.
After the burn out, like in any run, make sure to get right on top of that smoldering patch with your rear tires.

I've heard that back in the days, Rosin (not resin)was used to make a good 60'. It could be carried in a car and burnt in in about 1 minute. Of course I don't condone street racing.

Re: Black top racing ???? - 12/04/10 03:31 PM

white lyme works also..(only in DRY track)
but you have to burn out over it..
and blow off the excess dust..
otherwise vht..

good luck

Back in the day we would have one of our buddies go to the race site and prep about 100' of our lane with with VHT using a garden sprayer. Advantage Mopar

I for one LOVE street racing and we always use(d)VHT and did several burn outs in the lane we chose(the other guy was on his own)then staged in FRONT of the puddle and let er rip. Very few cars dead hook on the street ESPECIALLY the higher powered ones finess and knowing your car`s limits/advantages are the keys in my opinin.

Back a long time ago we would use vinegar. Soak the tires down the day prior to the race and just use water the night to burnout with. The Vinegar seemed to soften the rubber enough to bite a little better than anything we tried before.

Re: Black top racing ???? - 12/04/10 09:25 PM

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I ran pro-trac soft compound tires soaked in VHT. We used to race near the Pittsburgh airport on a back road...what a ball!!!! I beat a lot of cars faster then me because I could hook quicker than most.

For the street, vht,
my car hook just like
at da track. I didn't
street race, that was
for testing. I don't
believe in $treet raccing.

I love watching street racing on You Tube from NY, but where are all you Mopar guys??? I could only ever find one video with a Mopar. Nice red 68 Dart gets beat by a Maverick (looks like the Mav. jumped though).

NY Street Racing

Re: Black top racing ???? - 12/06/10 05:34 AM

Yes it will.
Just make sure to do two things.
1: put tape or a protective gel on your lower quarters to keep the ill stuff off.

2: Make sure to make a decent burn out right on top of a small puddle and lay a good patch for 10 ft or so. Back up right on top of it again and stage, no dry hops. Just like the track.
Your off.

Dart slept and wept out of the hole. No 60ft to catch the little Ford.
Talking about black top racing. The legendary S.Conduit is just on the other side of those weeds and all new black top, but lost in history.

You need to bring that down to compton and make some

Streetracing is one of the best things to go out and do (if your not dumb about it)

I agree, VHT and a few burnouts
