Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 11/27/10 01:24 AM

along with all the sweat expended during the build back in the day when I had a car at that stage there was a big supermarket type scale hanging in the shop. every item got weighed and re inspected for possible reduction prior to installation. some times just shorted the bolts or excess length got cut off. I never kept any records but would like to think at the end my efforts were worth it .back then these were all mostly NHRA stock class rides and anything was a help. I wonder how comfortable those back seat cusions are today with over half the springs removed

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 11/27/10 03:01 PM

Glad to see all the other Demon pics. There will be close attention paid to the weight of everything that goes in this car.Other than the 230# of dead weight behind the wheel.I welcome all your ideas and input as the build progress. As with any good build I will relay on some friends along the way to help reach our goals. Friends like Bobs Pro Fab,Vic Bloomer cylinder Heads,BPE crank shafts to start with. There is nothing I can't do myself but there is others that just do it better.

Randy We are shooting for MMW in Indy to bring it out. However the car was about 30 day from being done the Engine has a bit more. The heads are getting CNC treatment at Brett Millers and should see them back in a few weeks. The Cam just came back frum Bullet and the pistons are being ordered soon.It can then start to go together.Keep in mind with me only having one arm to work with my shop is almost shut down to nothing therefore im not making any money. The Wife said we have been without a rececar way to long so just get it done.

Don't you just love wives like that! Mine said the same thing at the Nationals last year. When I need a high dollar part I tell her I'm just following orders!

Well I healed up quick and Doc said get back at it. Stripes are on and the hood is cut, Scoop is fit. I love Carbon Fiber. I still have to bond a small piece to the rear of the scoop in order to match up with the car. Not the same body lines as Morgans old Stratus.lol

Scoop attached to the hood or mounted independently? Looks good either way. Wasn't sure how much I was going to like that scoop on that body, but it looks good.

Thinking about doing this to my new scoop also. Any pictures of how you did it? Did you build a tray inside the scoop then mounted to the engine? I don't think I have ever seen good pictures of how this is done.
Posted By: Hitman340

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 07/30/12 11:18 PM

The tray is bonded to the inside of the scoop. Then you make up the mount to fit it from there. Here is the style i made up.

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 07/30/12 11:27 PM

You also can use a kit from Quarter Max. This will cut down on some fab work.It just screws inplace of the air cleaner stud and your fastener is then on top of the scoop.

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 07/31/12 03:01 AM

Thanks for the pictures. It clears that install up nicely. Did you have to cut and re-flange the scoop or did it just happen to be at the right height to fit under the hood?

Nice work. If I were closer you would be doing a few things to my Dart.

Brian I hope this was some help to you.I did not have to re-flange the scoop. It fell about 3/8s lower than I would have made it but not worth what it would take to change it.If there is any way I can help please feel free to give me a shout.Thank all of you for the kind words in regards to my work.

Wow, Wished I would have turned that light on sooner. That $hit really works.

ATI rates this bad boy to hold up to 1800 HP.
My little W8 would really have to grow a pair in order to break this thing. Now were just down to assembling the engine and we should be ready for spring.Merry christmas to me.

Not to bust your bubble Jeff, but I see a problem....maybe. That is the same transmission I run. They forgot to put the "spacer" between the bellhousing and trans case on mine. They made a run of sb mopar bells that were to short and they make it up with a spacer. Now, maybe you have a newer bellhousing since they said they would correct it at their next run of castings. Just check it out....caused me some grief and took lots of measurements to find out it was not my mistake. ATI kept saying I didn't have the coverter in all the way.

Kenny, That is a glass hood with a carbon wrap. This is something I offer at my shop.

Thanks for the good info Brian. I will be sure to give that a close look. If I run into a issue I may be asking for some of your measurements to compair befor I call them. Thanks again!!!

Thats hilarious, I delt with them over this same issue over 2yrs ago. The very first "adapter" is currently on my car. You would think they would have a clue by now

Mine showed up just like the picture Jeff posted....no spacer. I about tore my hair out trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. With the spacer it went without a hitch.

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 12/05/12 07:32 PM

You and Brian have me confused what didn't fit? I just got the same trans w a mopar sb bell and all worked and fit great...i just had to make a trans crossmember to work w it
Posted By: Bill_LBSR

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 12/05/12 10:48 PM

The issue with Lowbudgets car and a few others was ATI cast their small block mopar bellhousings for the powerglide supercase 3/4" too short. Took me 3 months of back and forth with ATI until they finally listened to me and rechecked there measurements and realized it was too short. So they fabbed up a 3/4" spacer between the bellhousing and the case to fix the issue. They haven't made a new run of those bellhousings yet that I know of, because im supposed to be getting one when they do. They want to sell all the short ones before they make new ones and its not like SBM to powerglide bellhousings are something they sell alot of.

dont how yours worked unless your running a midplate of some sort. Without the spacer I couldn't even get the bellhousing to mount up to the block with the converter in.

I agree. Maybe you can measure the total length of your bellhousing? If it fit (and there is no spacer between the bell and trans case) then they might have fixed them. I would like to have one without having to use a spacer....not sure ATI would be quick to let everyone know it is fixed and they are ready to hand out free bellhousings.

Re: Project Bad Demeanor - 12/06/12 12:09 AM

Mine came w a spacer for the crank...the overall lengh of the glide is shorter but i was gonna have crossmember made to take care of that. The converter and trans bolted in perfect and fyi i got my bellhouseing about 5 months ago so maybe i got a.newer one. Thankyou guys

That's how my 420 is, probably not 3/4 but there was welding done to blend the runners into the plenum when it was converted to Dominator flange.
