What would you call a big cam in a -1 headed 500rb @13.1 ?

anything near .800 lift or bigger. anything much smaller than that is fairly normal.

i agree. the numbers @.05 can be all over the place depending on the lobes used.

I think a fairly common size wotld be around 270 @ 0.050", 0.700"+ lift, so I would consider a cam big if it was larger.

I made some compromises with my cam selection (Small 264 duration @ 0.050" cam, 0.715" lift) because of piston to valve clearance issues and I did not want to cut deeper valve reliefs in the pistons.

Don't you guys know that .050 numbers are the important thing!! LOL Sorry I couldn't help it.I'd think the opening and closing points as well as the design of the lobe makes the output and good track numbers,just how you figure them is the difference between men and boys.I hope for some expert opinions.
