E85 in Minnesota - 11/18/10 07:14 PM

Im getting ready to Dyno my motor and they are running a lighter grade E85 here cause of the cold weather. Does anyone know where I can buy a 55 gal drum or a 5 gallon drum of e85 or e89? I found E98. If I mix E98 and the lighter E85 and test it till it reads E85+ would that be ok for the Dyno?

What I would do is take the E98 and add high test pump gas to it. This will make a good consistent mix for you dyno session.

If you have E98 mix 4.3 gallons with .7 gallon high test pump gas.

This will give you 85% mix.

That is what I would do also. Verify it is really E98, and mix pump premium gasoline with it. If you have a good cheap supply of E98, and it is just for racing, I would set everything up to run E98???

Contact Federated Coops (their main office is in Princeton) or Beaudry Oil in Elk River...

Rocket fuels sells E-85 that I have found to be a VERY consistent mix. I know it can be purchased in 55-gallon drums. Never tried to get it in 5-gallon cans.

It is a very consistent mix from Rockett and is a great race fuel but last time I checked it was around 6.00 a gallon.

I now see the last response was to an outdated topic, bringing it back to the top.

I'm up against the same problem. Don't really want to dyno 13.4 to 1 on E70. One would think with all the alcohol plants up here E98 would be easy to get. I too am still looking for a direct outlet.
