$225,000,000 Motorsports Complex w/ Drag Strip - MN - 09/21/10 02:44 PM

Perhaps old news to some but this one could be the real deal and we need your support. Proposed location is northern metro in Lino Lakes where 35W & 35E join together.

I've been in contact with council members since it was formally proposed and they are receptive to the idea. One of the council members is asking for public input via a survey. Please read the article on the following link and complete the survey (you don't need to be a resident in the area to fill out the survey).

Another article published in the local paper.
Please submit your comments and complete the survey.

As mentioned, this seriously could be the real deal. Are any Moparts members in the area interested?

As everyone knows there is resistance to new race facilities all around the country. This one I truly believe has a good chance.

I put my in the survey. Sure hope it bares fruit. Most have been disapointed so many times they won't comment. Hows the ride coming along? Got mine up to BIR, went 8.99 in the heat.

We need it bad in minnesota. Brainerd is really nice but would be nice to have some options.

Hey Greg...I hear ya on the disappointment - but it's not over until it's over. Remember the great words spoken by John Belushi, "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? he__ no!"

With regard to progress - you know how it goes on a tight budget, limited time and stubborn enough to do it all myself. However, I am in the paint process now. Epoxy primer blocked wet in 400 grit. Sealer this weekend - then hopefully base/clear the following.

And yes, I followed your posts - congrats on the 8.99!

Same here. I'll believe in a new track, when I'm strapped in, sitting in the water box, and getting ready to make a pass. Until then...

For me just a basic track like TriState would be nice without the 5 hour drive time. Don't get me wrong, I like racing at night at Grove Creek, and do not care if it's a 1/8th mile track, but other options would be nice.

We can only hope...who is the money behind it? Doubt if lending is available for a venture like this. Vikings dual use?

I'm all for it !!!! but , it's been the same sad story over and over with that proposal. It's not the first time here for this....plenty of times it's been shot down. Like Pine city, farmington, anoka and lakeville. I think the only way it will get built, is when people can see the amount of revenue that will be generated .The only hope we have is that people will get hungry for money and the $$$$$$$$ signs will blind the tree huggers and silent the noise the other people complain about. I really do hope they can win the people over and get it built.

You echo my reasons for posting. Big Lake was the last place it was proposed - shut down mainly because of infrastructure and access. Two Interstates are immediately accessible with this location - It's the absolute perfect spot. Currently, the land is ag and industrial use with residential subdivisions many miles away.

The investment group already has some type of agreement or lease option to buy option with Rehbine on the acreage. Therefore, I believe the finances are solid.

Call me stubborn or ignorant, but I'm hoping if we get off our hump and equally promote the benefits comparatively to what the opposition (tree huggers) claim as detrimental, we have a good shot at making this happen.

Myself and others are taking an active role in staying on task with the council to see this through. The editors of both our local papers are very receptive to printing opinions that are backed up with facts (been there before with successful results). Likewise, we plan to be in attendance for council meetings to debunk erroneous claims by the opposition in a non-redneck factual approach (nothing against rednecks as I proudly consider myself one).

Yes, it's a big hurdle but I don't think anyone thus far has approached it correctly. The opposition has always out numbered the majority in favor.

Sorry for the rant...But I have a feeling...
