Help - R Block P4532908 Info - 09/16/10 06:04 AM

I have access to a Mopar R block P4532908 that I am considering buying. From the pics, it has both mag and LA mounts and 4 bolt center 3 mains, but I don't have any other info yet. All I have seen is it used to be a spec block for some dirt tracks years ago. Any info on it - main size, max bore, siamese or open water jacket, lifter angle, cam diameter, and block mods would help. It seems like the lifter area needs to be trimmed down to work, and a stock timing cover doesn't fit. No mention in Mopar catalog and I don't know where to look for info. Thanks.

It could have been machined into either P4876672
or P4876792. Water block, 9.200 deck/can be milled to 8.90, 4.08 max recommended bore, 340 mains, and could have been either 48 or 59 deg. depending on machined part number.

Thanks for the info. Where can I look for the part number - the seller just gave me the stamped one on the side.

Sure the part number is on the label that's on the box

If no label we have to go by the casting number and visual inspection.

Sounds like you have pics? Since the only variable is the lifter angle, just post a pic of the lifter valley area.

I'm supposed to go look at the block in the next day or so when it is gotten out of storage. Box is long gone. I'll post pics of lifter valley when I can. Is it that the 59* are tight to the block and 48* are towards the center, or vice versa? Again, thanks, Zippy

My R3 block had the last three digits of the part number stamped into the front of the block on the driver's side.

I might have to rethink what I want to do if I get this block. I was wanting to put a big inch - 420 or so - small block together, but with that bore size and short deck it looks like about 410" would be about the limit, and that with about a 5.7" rod. This block must be better suited to the short stroke cranks and 9500RPM! Might have to dig an old 5.83 R&P out of the shed...

Yep, that's exactly what the short deck stuff is made for....limited CI applications and a bunch of rpm.
