Don't they have to start running a whole bunch of extra cages and safety stuff when they start running 9s? I thought it would be an entirely new set of rules and a lot of stuff would have to change

Atco and great air next month will give him a 9 for sure.
My Diplomat broke down on the road back home with my Son, but Dave's news made my day after all.

I believe that every member of the F.A.S.T clan went that 10.05 today because they all support each other like no other Brotherhood I've seen.

Yes, I am the #1 Fan.

Just got home from e town and still can't believe that last round. Dave made another great pass along side ken veit before that one but the timing equipment didn't record it. Who knows that could've been a 9.99. Way to go Dave

Re: FAST at Palooza: 10.05 @ 138 !!!!!!!!!!!! - 09/06/10 06:41 AM

WOW....these guys never cease to amaze me on how they can continue to improve their et's given such a MASSIVE traction handicap for the power they make. I'm sure that I'm not that much different from most guys that the harder I try to improve my launch the harder the car spins so my hat's off to these guys for their amazing cars and driving abilities

There is certainly no doubt we will see a 9 sec pass out of a black Road Runner yet - Congrats Dave!

Scott they went head to head in the last round before elimantions. Eddie went faster but James took him. James has the experience and the stick shift Eddie has a little more smoke but has less then 10 passes in the car. The famialy competions should get a little heated for the next race!

Dave congratulations you deserve it.

I was fairly happy with the duster this weekend, went a 11.54, I need to find a little more of the missing hp and some good air and I think I might get the smallblock record.

If that's the case then there will be only 1 9.xx pass before the track shuts the racer down.

maybe they can go to the NHRA new Pro class format and only run 1000ft. ?

Congrats to Dave for another win and hats off to everyone involved.

It was a lot of fun to see it. Had some issues with a new 6 pack build I just finished that couldn't be worked out in time. We will get it going for the next event. It was a highlight to see the Cook kids go at it and get it done. James, to run those times with that "low effort" build and a 4 speed without a trick clutch on those tires....

I bet he has the front end set up REAL loose on that thing, that would help keep weight on the rear wheels the whole length of the track. Probably a tight converter to knock the TQ down at the wheels at the launch.

Simply amazeing really.

It was an issue that was out of my hands, now that it is found, it explains alot about the issues with a/f, overheating, etc. I don't want to go farther than that.
But the motor still isn't making the steam it should. Even with the sixpack on it, it doesn't care that it is in a 500lb lighter car. It's running the same times the AAR did. Gonna keep plugging away.

I feel your pain! The New project(63 Plymouth Maxie) has at least 80 more HP and well over a 100lbs of torque and the car is 300lbs lighter and it's just barley going quicker then the A12 car?? The Maxie is crushing the sixpack's times in the 1/8 but just goes lazy upstairs.Car is at least 5 MPH slower then it should be? Any Maxie guys out there that had to deal with Aero problems? I'am at a loss.

I think you will find more HP with some of the things you mentioned the other day but still keep in mind you went 118.5 in horrible thick air at LVD, something it did/would not do before

Congrats Dave, that is amazing! The Hemi is just a killer platform for this and Dave misses no tricks.

Congrats to all the other competitors as well, the heavy hitters get all the press but there are some other hard running cars out there!

Ed/Brian

You guys will be fine! (Ed) For the amount of passes that new car has on it, it has made great strides! 10.70's in the heat is no small accomplishment on the cars 3rd or 4th time out. NO WAY that the black A12 gives Lane's Mustang all it could handle on Sunday like the Maxie did. Let's stick to the plan . There is still quite a few question marks in that package that have yet to be answered.

Just remember. I seem to recall Dave D's RR(with the identical pkg he's running now) running high tens and barely breaking 130 only a few years ago. Not too much changed(at least I think ) and I am sure he would be the first to tell you that he didn't somehow miraculously find 100HP over that time period. Yet the car has gotten a little faster and faster as time went on. Top notch Stock Eliminator guys run pretty big MPH for the power levels of the engines because they have addressed every little detail. And no one item made a big change, but the cumulative effect of everything is where the rubber meets the road.

It's all about just "pounding the rock" as they say in football terms.

Mike`s right, I went from high 10.90`s to 10.30`s over a three year peroid without changing so much as a jet. To be truthful i did add a vacuum pump though.

Piston swap and a freshen put me where i am now, my basic package is the same.

Hi Dave congrats on your new all time fast.. Im curious what kind of compression are these cars making? Is there a guide line that your class has to follow as far as motor work?

And its probably a pretty safe bet that if at the very time that the car was running 10.90's @ 130, you put the vacuum pump and pistons in the car it wouldn't immediately run what it's running now.

The motor in James' red A12 is the exact same motor I built 5 years ago when it was in the black A12. Nothing, except a cam swap(worth at best 15-20 horse) has been done to that motor. It has the same rods, pistons, heads, and everything. Even the bearings are the original ones. The black car is a more purpose built racer than the red one is and most importantly, the red car is a stick car.

When that pkg first came out we were running low 12's and barely making 120MPH. Now it regularly runs 125/126 and is running 11.00. Nothing but a cam swap. Just keep chopping away.

My heads stayed the same, MCH is responsible for my new piston design. My compression is 13.8 to 1.

Ed, do a all out Hemi..

When F.A.S.T. started in 2001, noone would of even dreamed that it was possible to hit a 9 second pass. Heck you would of been lauged at if you mentioned a 10 second pass. How fast can these cars get? Its anyones guess! Congrats to all!!
