Even a mild worn out low compression motor will push a B in to the low 11's high 10's if make it light enough

My best is in my sig. Most of the time it runs 11.7's @ almost 118. The car is not an all out race car. It still has a complete interior, heater, radio, seats, headliner, etc + a full exhaust. + it's a stick car.

452 inch with Indy SR heads (kinda 440-1's now) Big roller cam, 11.5 to 1 pump gas (94 Sunoco) 4.56 Dana
TTI headers, dominator. 10.45 @ 128.27 in the heat but a little push.

I don't know if mine is "good", but it works for what I'm doing with it.

Quoted from here

Quote:

4.10 Dana, OEM housing, power lock (no spool)

727, 9" 4500-ish stall (actually a super tight J), Cheetah valve body

451ci B block, 4.375x3.75, 10.75:1, E heads with backcut intake valves and blended cnc ridges (no porting otherwise, still using Edelbrock's valve job), 77-78cc, 262-266 @.050 .631 gross lift solid roller, Victor manifold, 1000cfm Race Demon (Mr P Body endorsement pending...inside joke), 2" x 3.5 Hooker super comps, 3.5" X pipe, Ultraflow mufflers...machined by www.lsm.eng ,built at home by me in Dad's borrowed garage....and that's a great big run-on sentence there.

The rest of it is 3800lb super stock springs, shock extensions, stock torsion bars in front, QA1 shocks in front set full loose which I'm not sure helped all that much, but I tried. Rear tires are 29x11.50 Hoosier cheater slicks.

Re: 10 and 11 sec b bodys - 07/22/10 06:09 PM

Mine is a pretty basic 499. SR heads, small flat tappet cam, good rotating assembly, indy single plane intake, 950 HP carb, 4.56 gears, good 727, 10 inch tire, flowmaster outlaw mufflers and weighs right at 3500. Mostly a 10 flat car in the southern heat and humidity, but has been in the nines. Could be lighter, but I like the windows rolling up and down, full dash, door panels, carpet, headliner and 2 front seats.

I like the street/strip combo's and enjoy reading about them. I drive my 63 as much as I can as I love driving it. It's your basic stock 440 with 906 heads and 10.0 comp using a few bolt on goodies like Holley SD intake with 850 DP , Hedman 1-3/4 headers , Mallory dist with MP orange box and the MP .557 cam. Goes 3700 lbs and has run a best of 11.49 @ 116 driven to the track. These cool Mopars are a blast to drive. Ron

Re: 10 and 11 sec b bodys - 07/27/10 07:42 PM

Our 67 Coronet is still a street car. Its a 440 (30 over) with Indy SR heads custom hand ported by my father with Indy intake and 1000CFM Demon, TTI headers and of course some other Bowman goodies. Easy build and didnt really cost that much.
Uncapped and on slicks i run 10.90's 11.00's all day long. Capped and on street tires 11.40's. You have to have the combo. My compression is now 11.0 and we still run pump gas on the street.
Visit our website. I love quick B bodies!!!!!!
Good luck.

...man that better be one light b-body..if only it were that easy..imo your about a 1.5 off it's more like 12.50's to high very high 11's..when i first got my car running, i was to impatient to wait and save $ to build my current short block...so i ended up running a early 70's rv413(maybe 8.5 to 1).it got new rings and a quick hone and put in new bearings. a MP484 cam and a stock set of 906's with a M1 and 780 carb. the car would run consistant 12.60's...my current comob is in my sig..i'm running Ross pistons(around 12-1)and BME alum. rods. and otb mp452 heads.runs consistant low 11.40's in the heat @ somewhere around 3600lbs.

My numbers are a little off from some of you guys. I'm going to chalk it up to a bad transmission and really old engine (been together for 17 years). New transmission goes in this summer and I'll be at PINKs at Firebird in November.

OOTB Edelbrock Performer Heads, .590 Purple Shaft, Crane 1.5 Golds, M1 Single Plane, 1150 3-circuit 4500, 2295 TRW, stock stroke steel crank, stock block, 100hp shot of N2O

69 Charger, almost full interior, caged, tubbed, ladder bars, unknown weight

727 (slipping into 3rd), 10inch 4000 converter

Run 1: Short shifting into 3rd, I botched the burn out.
