1965 Belvedere SS Hemi Car Chassis Help - 07/19/10 05:36 PM

Im in the middle of trying to get my 65 car done and I need some help with trying to figure out which way to go... The main question is what are the specs for a SS car? Can it be 4 linked? Whats the biggest size tire for this car? Also do you have to run torsion bars for this class? Can someone guide me in right direction who builds A990 SS cars...

The front suspension has to be stock. Rear suspension can be coil over four link. Tires 14.5 in Super Stock, but some nostalgia classes require a 10.5 tire
Mine is Rear leaf with four link. Works fine for low 9s, if you are going mid 8s better have coil over rear springs for adjustability, and a spare motor.

My car is 4 linked already with coil overs.. The front suspension was going to Magnum Force but I'm leaning towards modified K frame. I heard these SS guys are running some serious front shocks in the car thats what help the car leave the way that they do..

John has done my chassis work since the mid seventies. The Holt's do fine work

John and Ben do some goooood work! Our car is there right now actually! If I were you I would go modified Stock K, so many more options for racing... We just QA1 stocker stars up front and have been a best of 1.32 60ft (this was after John and Ben got their hands on it) we are hoping to improve on it later this year... Ill let you know

Hey Casey I have to put back the stock firewall in the car. The previous owner changed the firewall I guess to make it look clean.. I'll have to find a stock firewall...

I honestly don't know if anyone would complain about the firewall or not... is it in the stock location? Its hard to say... just tell them you patched up the holes and smoothed it down lol... they will never know!!

Thanks Casey.. The firewall is in the stock location.. Those pictures were from last yr before the rear was installed I need to update the pictures. The car has been sitting the trailer need to get it done. Im waiting on a call from Holt to see what it will cost me to complete it. I was hoping to get it done for Norwalk...
