Almost as impressive is the fact that he had the car completely torn apart just a couple of weeks ago.He did an amazing job with a lot of late nights to get the car back together and test it 1 time before going up there with it.
Got it together and qualified for the Ten-O shootout just like he wanted!

Thanks everybody...I just want to start out by saying THANK YOU to all
the people who helped me, in some way or another.
Jeff Allison, Rod Bloomer, Renee' Redding, Keith Dunnuck, Joe Meece,
Bondo Bob, Scott Allen and probably more I'm forgetting.
I also want to congratulate all the winners this weekend. I know
several of you but, am too lazy to type on all the posts.

Thanks Al Bruischart for loaning me your spare Optima battery to
keep me running this weekend.

I had an absolute blast this past weekend at the Chrysler Classic. I even
have a pair of CRT 10.00 Shoot Out decals to put in the quarter glass.
I got to see several old friends and meet more Moparts members....
dvw, prochamp, rowin4. Sorry if I'm forgetting you.

Car went 9.9928 @ 130.14 MPH Friday night during TNT. 6.279 @ 107.54
and a best 60 ft. of 1.3705

Edit: I forgot to say Thanks to my mother for driving 800 miles straight from
Charlotte to surprise me, AT THE TRACK!

Congrats to Vic...sounds like she's humming along for sure...but we gotta at least know a few things? I dont need fine details, but:

1) Is this a stock stroke true 340?
2) Are these W2 iron, J head iron, RHS iron etc?
3) Whats the car weigh ?
4) How much C/R?

I know nothing about your combo, so just trying to figure out what you ran a 9 with.

Congrats.

Re: Kudo's to Vic..AKA S/ST 3040 - 07/20/10 11:16 PM

I'm sure it weighs 2621 lbs. with me in it. That probably lessens
the novelty of breaking the 10 second barrier for some but, whatever.

As far as titanium nuts go..........this car doesn't take the clankers
I thought it would to drive it into the nines. I limited the front
end travel to 3.5" and it drives like it's on a string......almost.

Other than the pump gas 346" engine, it has an ATI 6250 RPM stall,
8" converter in an A&A aluminum drum 904 (2.45:1 1st gear) Dana 60
with 5.57 gear and 31" slick. It goes through the lights at about
8000 RPM. (converter looks to have about 2.4% slip)
Thanks for all the kind words.

Not from this camp. I hope you don't think I implied that! I was curious because acheiving that weight is an accomplishment in itself. After you posted this I ran HP #'s thru Wallace based on the 1/8 mi MPH, nice . I'm sure the D.A. wasn't ideal either. You either lifted or you have some problem the 2nd half of the track. This was an impressive first outing. Nice program Vic.

Re: Kudo's to Vic..AKA S/ST 3040 - 07/21/10 12:33 PM

People take me the wrong way in person.......probably more so in text.
I wasn't saying that to anybody, in particular. I know "race weight?"
is one of the first questions I'd have asked. I'm a number cruncher too.

The car/engine exceeded my own expectations. (A RARITY!) Believe it or
not, this engine was assembled from my pile of SB parts that "should"
work without spending any more money to finish. It veered from my original
plan, because it was going to cost more to do it that way.

I agree with the problem in the last half of the track. After reviewing my
log book, pertaining to weather and jet changes, it appears I may have a
carburetor/fuel delivery issue. I think there is more in it, currently.
Fall air should bring better times. My 9.9928 pass was at a density
altitude of 3113' 78.6º 57% humidity 29.01" hg

It's all good.

Vic,

Are you running the MP 304 .571 solid cam in this motor?

If so, how do you like it? Done any shift point experimentation?
Posted By: S/ST 3040

Re: Kudo's to Vic..AKA S/ST 3040 - 07/24/10 06:19 PM

No, it's not. I have tested different shift points.
Small engines are pretty sensitive to shift RPM.

I was just kidding Jeremy. He got me a good deal on these.

I'd rather have 1 3/4" primaries or 1 3/4' x 15 1/2" stepped
up to 1 7/8" and another 1 1/2" in collector length.

There might be 15-20 HP and 15 ft/lbs there. $tahl make$

Yes you can flow almost anything.......carburetors, plus intake and heads, exhaust ports with
headers bolted to them, blowers, etc. The problem is......there is way more going on inside the
intake and exhaust tracts, that static airflow don't, won't and can't tell you.

It is a solid roller. You were correct in your assumtion, that is the extent of my disclosure.

Oh shoot I knew you were messin with me! And though I did get you a steal of a deal on those headers, I still owe you for all the things you done for me!!

What would you need to do to make these headers more effective? Maybe...I hate to say it...more cubic inches? I am guessing either that or more RPM.
