Hemi oil system question

Hemi oil system question - 06/27/10 08:08 PM

Anyone know if this setup would clear an unmodified hemi K frame and stock mounts? Can't see how it wouldn't, but just checking to see if anyone is running this setup. Can't really tell from the photos how thick the sandwich plate is?

If the pickup line comes out the front and the line comes underneath and loops up to the fitting....
No...
The Indy pump cover or even the Muscle Motors pump cover would be much better and comes out the back
IMO
I would buy the Indy pump cover, or the Muscle Motors pump cover, and the static pickup setup 440Source offers if you want to save a few bucks.

I see/work on a lot of original hemi cars and can tell you that the MM or Indy pump covers look too bulky to work-but in all honesty I have never actually tried it. The stock mount looks too close with the mass of those covers. 440 Source??, uhmm , no thanks....

Anyone with any real world installation issues to report?

I don't know that the rear exit plate wold be better. With the milodon rear exit with a motor plate I had to modify the steering box bracket and then still had to find a special fitting to clear. But looking at it again that pick up plate is between the pump and the motor, my external pick up plate was bolted to the end of the pump . As I don't have any original mounts at all , I can't say I guess one way or the other. You'll also need to get a longer intermediate oil pump shaft along with that type of kit.

This might help.

That plate was designed to go along with the second inlet on the pump cover, the plate necks down internally to a very small area, not good on the inlet side I know guys running that system on the street and at the track, I would not trust it or use it by itself BTW, I do use it on my dual line setup on my 527 bracket motor

The front inlet sandwich plate will work with the stock mounts and is as good if not better than the stock internal pickup. The rear inlets require modifying the mount, the side will work if you also loop it to the front.Remember to use the longer intermediate shaft with the sandwich plate. You can also just buy the Milodon alum pump with the front inlet and use a stock or plugged aftermarket cover plate

i run the milodon pump with a stock cover, no internal pickup. works great and will clear stock mounts.
