Racing Radiators for filled blocks, Help Needed........ - 05/09/10 03:55 AM

Okay guys, we have been using a stock radiator for some time and it has done a very good job cooling with 1inch, 2row core. Now that we have a filled block, we want to ensure that we get proper and efficient cooling for our bracket engine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good racing radiator that we should use for an A-body big block mopar? Price wise, what are the best options available?

Thanks in advance for comments!

When the block is filled there is actually less demand put on the radiator. You are only cooling the water flowing through the heads as opposed to what used to flow through your entire block and heads. The preponderance of the excess heat is transferred to your oil. For 1/4 mile racing this harms nothing. Use good oil and keep the levels up.

Northern Radiators...Jegs or Summit has them I believe under their brand...

mine is a 31x19 dual pass aluminum and I use dual Spal fans...

I bought mine off a fellow that sells them on Ebay...

Exactly as BobR states. You have actually reduced the demands of the cooling system. Radiator choice isnt very critical in that situation.

Get a decent radiator and a better oil cooler.

Same as mine, never a over heat issue. If its street driven go for the oil cooler, with my half fill my oil gets hot and thin and I notice the hardblock holds alot of heat...its the only areas on my block that the high heat paint wont stay on.

Do yourself and your motor a favor...oil cooler.

Thanks guys, I guess I can start shopping for a good oil cooler instead. Any suggestions on those?
