Small block intake question - 04/20/10 05:37 PM

I am looking for a comparison/test results on small block mopar single plane intakes. Building a 318(or close to) for my front engine dragster. Installing a 750 dominator and need help deciding on the intake. Will only be turning 7500 or less RPM.
Anyone know of articles or comparison charts that I could look up?

This is the only small block intake test that I know is available on the net. There are other intakes not tested that would work also. (i.e.: M-1 single plane, Stealth, Offy Port-O-Sonic, etc.) Considering the light weight and rpm's, a single plane may work well despite the little 318. But some of the bigger dual planes may not disappoint either. But I always figure that it's safer to lean on the conservative side. Gearing, converter and cam duration will have an affect on the options.

I assume you'll be using 340/360 heads for the port size?
7,500?

Mopar Muscle Magazine small block intake test.

Some will also make a difference at what RPM you plan
on launching at... if its a low RPM a big single plane
might hurt... JMO

Launch will be in the 5,000 to 5,500 range. I am looking into the P4532597 M1 manifold, but I have found an early stack injection set up to research.

I didn't know they made dominators that small, Chucko!

Maybe you can find an old holley strip dominator intake somewhere? I've got one on my 340. Something like this:

Hey Chucko!!!

I've got a Port O Sonic that I just took off my 416 stroker. Thought I would bolt on a Super Victor to pickup a little but gained absolutely nothing. Port O Sonic was probably one of the best if not THE best small block manifold ever.

Bout to put it on Racing Junk if anyone's interested.

I would buy Mark's Port-o-sonic if I were doing this deal.
Hey Mark-on a personal note,
I see you at Bako at all of the WCHRA races. Your driving and your car are very impressive. For all of you Moparters who don't know this guy is around at the end of every race I attend. Good job!
