we jetted up from 95 pri/96 sec to 100 sq.no improvement but a few hp.jetted dn to 97 sq for just over 1100hp and then added 2deg for 30 total and you have thew results.

Good. You have the good block, so no worries there.
If I were you, I'd start thinking about any possible weak areas in the drivetrain. With that much power on tap, marginal parts won't live for long.
Hey, you might put on a clinic for some of these street driven blown Hemi boys!

Thank you!my quest was for a little more hp but mainly a safer block [KP440] insted of the stock block i was using. the bigger carbs did help with IAT and more hp whatever it does at the track i will be happy with and just tune on it and have fun. i am no bracket racer .i just like to have fun and be as safe as i can.
the carbs need some tuning as the cruise A/F was 12.3 at 3k rpm warming on the dyno and that was after opening up thge idle air bleeds to 70 from 55 and 1/4 turn out on the idle screw total.i have a wideband and EGT and those should help.
we will se what she does at the track.

yes it was at koffels.the dyno is a dead horse with me.the track will tell the story.it is sure to be faster tho.i ran the bigger carbs and less drive on the blower and went faster.

All that matters is that you made more power and happy with what you did, atleast you were able to find the problems before you got it into the car and all buttoned up....good luck at the track

When do you plan to have it in the car?

First, congrats on the successful dyno session. These #'s are crazy high for that combination of parts at that boost level thru a roots blower IMO. You're validating a number that 'doesn't matter' to you by accepting specific compliments about HP without qualifying it. What parts did you change from the last combination that made near 800 HP? Where were you measuring the boost level? I see 30+HP per # of boost. This huge HP again serves as an advertisement of sorts and to quantify it IMO you should post what HP you made when your car last ran. Once again we'll, I'm not the only naysayer here, let your MPH speak for the power your making. Is that such a crazy concept?

Re: D DAY RESULTS! - 04/19/10 05:34 PM

I'll keep my dyno thoughts to myself...

But you know what?

Finding the plug water leak on the dyno was worth the time spent, no matter what the HP on the sheet reads.

That alone was worth putting it on the dyno. Can you imagine finding the leak, AFTER you put it in the car?!

In the end it doesn't matter what the dyno says. As long as you're happy with how the car ET's for the money you spent, that's all that counts.

My tuning advise; read your sparkplugs (especially on dyno, 'cause it's easier) they are the windows to the soul of the engine. I'd give you a converter 'K' factor but, those #'s posted are unusually high, LOL. Come on brother, lighten-up.

my carbs are just 2 jets richerfrom my passes[3 ] last yr so with the extra 3lbs of boost i should be safe.the plugs are a tan and i still need to lean out the idle air bleed more it is hard starting still and only 1/4 turn out.

There is no trash talk going on from my end. Let me put it this way...this Kilpatrick(sp) guy built your engine correct? What if you took your motor to a different dyno facility and put up significantly lower HP #'s at comparible boost levels than MetalStorm's motor? But you're using superior parts. Do you blame the builder? I have to go...be back in a while to better clarify.

Mike, Congrats on a successful build

If you use the same dyno the numbers really don't matter. You showed an improvement over your last session on the same dyno

Now if we can do something to make your car roll easier then there's a free 200 HP. Are you sure the parking brake is not stuck on that thing

But, is it trash talking if its true? Even METAL STORM admits that the Koffel dyno is happy to the tune of around 15%.

and that# is based on my results on the track in relation to the # put out by the dyno.+/- there are still some veriables on the % to some extent on the rest of the parts matching and tuning...what do other dyno % look like?let the persome throwing the stone justify himself! who do you represent?come forth and stand in the court!

Right, thanks Tony, I see it a conservative 15+% in some cases. Actually I'm ok with what I've just posted, I feel it does a good job explaining my point. Are you going to be upset with your converter maker because the data you gave him is wrong? And again will you be upset, disappointed, or confused if your power #'s are lower than MetalStorm's? Just as MetalStorm has summed up well...that dyno is good for debugging and tuning purposes. My only advise that comes to mind is to access the archieves here (moparts) on how to read your sparkplugs. And I'll wish you good luck for a safe, informative dyno session.

Re: D DAY RESULTS! - 04/20/10 03:41 PM

Not bashing anyone, but I agree W/ a few of the previous posters, based on last 3 engines that have been posted coming from that dyno in last few weeks, it seems it is putting up #'s at least 15% high, actually probably closer to 16-17% after running some #'s here on my calculator, but hard to tell exactly.

If Koffels does'nt care that it is putting up high #'s, that is their perogative. The only problem with a dyno putting up #'s that high (it's really just supposed to be used as a tuning tool), is that the owners of these engines end up taking a bit of a beating by people knocking the #'s being excessively high.

I`ve been watching this for a while and you have to accept the facts that we can`t always agree on certain things. These #`s seem a bit optomistic to me also but I don`t race dyno`s either.....et and mph are all I personally care about. Kinda like Wild Bills situation.........even if he gets a 1/2 second from his combo, 10.0`s at 3000 lbs STILL don`t equate to 750+hp...........nuff said.

after reading these posts i wonder why a few people seem to be so worked up over koffels dyno numbers.some kind of hidden agenda maybe?

isn't koffel the one who was instrumental in the development of the B1 stuff and this new block

i did a search of koffeis place and could not find one bad thing or one unsatisfied customer.
the three engines in question seem to satisfy the owners and make them happy so what the heck.

i don't think koffel needs to come on here and explain or dignify anything to anybody on this board .

in fact have the main characters in this drama invented or developed or have a shop or done anything of note in the automotive world.i would like to hear about it.do they have any big wins or any records under their belts

i believe its ridiculus to think koffel needs to do anything thats underhanded to steal buisiness from another shop

I made the mistake of wearing a racing shirt to my local bar and had to sit and listen to a couple of STREETHOOPPIES tell me how there 350 chevy with a 750DP pumped out 756 HP on the local dynojet. So that's 756 at the rear wheels plus the 150 drive train loss so he came up with as he said (slightly over 900HP). I hate dyno's for reasons like this. They may be great for tuning and finding problems but if you really want to impress people back it up. SHOW ME THE TIME SLIP.

after reading these posts i wonder why a few people seem to be so worked up over koffels dyno numbers.some kind of hidden agenda maybe?

isn't koffel the one who was instrumental in the development of the B1 stuff and this new block

i did a search of koffeis place and could not find one bad thing or one unsatisfied customer.
the three engines in question seem to satisfy the owners and make them happy so what the heck.

i don't think koffel needs to come on here and explain or dignify anything to anybody on this board .

in fact have the main characters in this drama invented or developed or have a shop or done anything of note in the automotive world.i would like to hear about it.do they have any big wins or any records under their belts

i believe its ridiculus to think koffel needs to do anything thats underhanded to steal buisiness from another shop

just my

in a nutshell, this is why people go to Koffels, maybe the numbers are high, but the numbers are'nt really why people go to koffels. Its their expertise and knowledge. Indy inflates numbers too, but at least with Scott & Dave you know the product and work is top notch.

Glad it's running and ready to drop in the car.

Here is my take on dyno numbers. I have seen my motor vary in HP on 2 different dyno's by about 10%. One showed 830 hp, the other showed 775. I spent the entire season looking for ET that would never be there. Once I sorted out out some problems and dynoed it for a 3 time and picked up 75 hp on the "stingy" dyno, the car ran exactly what it should run for the HP it had.

The motor made 850 "corrected" hp on a super cool pull, 830 at normal operating temp.

IMO I want the numbers as accurate as they can be, then I don't waste a lot of time looking for ET that will never be there. To all the nay-sayers that don't think ET calculators work, mine runs exactly what it should from the HP it showed on the dyno. This is with the Moroso power speed calculator and the ones on the wallace site. Go to this calculator, use my sig times @ 3000# and see what you come up with.

I can`t believe you`re not using the heavy duty B&M full circle flexplate w/all of that brutal power.........there`s not much meat around those bolt holes.

B&M makes a full circle bad a$$ unit that`s thicker w/more meat aroud the holes..............sorry I don`t have a part # but I`m sure you can call them. I believe one`s for internal balance and the other`s external.
