These are from Central Florida dragway, Now Speedworld. My Dad is the starter in the pictures. My brother is the skinny kid with glasses & his fingers in his ears. It was cool being 5 & a pit rat! I spent some good time of my young years there.

cool pics! and thanks for sharing:)

as for the beetle those things can be very quick in the 1/8 they are lightweight and the few pounds they have is mostly on the rearend.. they may not have had as much power back then and i gues aftermarket parts have picked them up alot with time but the same holds true for v8 powered musclecars

i remember a bug at atco with a super healthy motor (prolly porche?)
was a serious drag car..but street driven.
that car ran 10's..an handley beat a big block vette....as along as he never missed a shift...
carried front tires from launch through second and into 3rd gear before tires would touch..
if he missed a shift it would run 13's...
which is still flyin....
cheapst

I have more but I have to scan them. I wish I could just post them instead of putting them to photobucket

A friend of mine who lives about a 1/2 mile from me now owns that Tommy Ivo dragster. Another friend of mine did all the paint work on it and is the same person that painted my Charger. The dragster was lightly crashed into the rear of Garlits dragster at the 2007 cacklefest event. There's a video of the "fender bender" on youtube. Thanks for the pics! The guys that raced those cars have the biggest stones of all racers.
