MSD 7531 BOX...COIL ????? - 04/15/10 12:51 AM

Hey all, I have a brand new MSD 7531 Digital box, I am going to install it, and was wondering, can I use a MSD 8207 Coil....it says MSD Blaster SS on it ??? Or "MUST" we use an 8251 ??? Only reason I suggest the 8251 is it will see a little bit of street use.....8207 says its good for 40,000 volts .....8251 says its good for 45,000 volts ???????? HELP !!!

The only coil I recommend for the -31 box is the 8261 HVC II coil. As long as you don't dirve the thing for a couple hundred miles at a time it will be fine

MSD recdommends the 8251, 8252, and the 8261. The 8207 looks to be for the 6 series box and may not function properly with a 7 digital. The 8252 comes up as for the 6-box as well, so I couldn't tell you for sure. You might try checking with their tech dept. online or by phone. They have always been very helpful for me.

FYI - the 7531 box is NOT allowed for NHRA competition. The "slew rate" function could be used as traction control which is banned.

Not according to MSD's coil compatibility list
