Yep --- thats what his dad said..... I also like how he waited for almost a minute before he opened the garage door so they would not get asphyxiated

Way to go Bill. It sounded great and you are well on your way to going down the track soon

Sounds awesome, What are the spec's on that cam if you don't mind?.....Matt..

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/10/10 03:12 AM

Yeah, it ws a little later than I would have liked but I still wanted to fire it anyway. I kept the door closed as long as I could so the neighbors wouldn't get to upset.

The cam is a Comp Cams 555 solid lift. We did put 1.6 ratio rockers on the intake using the 1.6's on the exhuast. Duration @ .050 is 262 on both and the ICL is 106 W/ a 110 LSA

That engine sounds Great!! Its Super crisp!, Whats that mean??

It means its a Whole lot meaner then the engine you had in it before.

With your combos weight , you no doubt have a deep 9 sec. ride combo. mike

OH YEAH

Even more after the fuel system set backs I had.

While installing the MF pump I also upgraded to a -12 feed line and had a hell of a time getting the new sump fitting to stop leaking.

Then, just prior to this vid, I had a needle and seat hanging up so I was dumping fuel through the boosters. Luckily that was an easy fix with a little blast of air.

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/10/10 01:55 PM

That sounded good for a blue engine , ya might want to crack that door open some so your car wont turn against ya and try to kill you, like what happened to ...... last year, its not good for the long term thought process also

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/10/10 04:42 PM

Long term thinking was never my strong point

The gas exhuast in the garage never really bothered me much but boy does the alky ever change things up

Ted, Get out there and start From the last post I saw it shouldn't be long for ya.

Track opens a week from today. I'm a little behind where I wanted to be at this point but nothing a lot of late night thrashing can't fix

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/11/10 12:26 AM

Thanks Matt,

Unfortunatly I came home tonight to see my fuel cell fitting leaking again

Drained the cell again and then lightly sanded the cell to make sure the suface wass as flat as possible. Applied Hylomar and reinstalled the fitting.

I'm not going to add any fuel to it till tomorrow just to be safe.

I'm getting so sick of leaks

Need more alky that won't leak out? Go with a simpler system.

Bill...I really think Blue Boy has been frightened by a lowly 383...
Posted By: WILD BILL

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/11/10 01:20 AM

I wont even begin to think about being frightened of it till it's in the other lane.

How long will I have to sit on the line waiting?

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/11/10 02:31 AM

Metal storm U crack me up!

Besides his old timing chain would have fit a raised cam block

Bill If you need I'll make a gasket for your fitting, guarenteed not to leak

Bill are you sure that's all the video you took? I want to see more
Posted By: WILD BILL

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/11/10 02:37 AM

No, it's not all I took.

But it's all I'm posting

Interesting idea about making a gasket for the fitting. I'ld be concerned about it getting torn by the corners if the fitting when it gets tightened down. I'll keep you in the loop

Re: FIRE IN THE HOLE - 04/13/10 02:00 PM

Hey Bill,

Can you use a Dowty seal or Earl's Stat-o-seal? It fixed a troublesome leak on the Volvo with the Milodon external sump deal for me.
