Zeeker Heads??? - 03/22/10 12:25 AM
I am thinking about buying a set of the zeeker heads, do these heads have any problems? I've heard they flow like the indy-1s. Do they use stock style valve covers, rocker arm assembly ect?

They were prone to cracking depending on what casting run they were from. They were one of the first aluminum wedge heads out there

Do they have a raised exhaust port?

Also on the Zeeker heads, you need to plug the 1/4" oil hole and drill it back out to about .060-.080. If not it will fill you valve covers full of oil @ about the 1/8 mile mark. Todd Marsh done a set for us 2-3 years ago he may can help you out with them.
The Zeekers I had were the raised exhaust ports same as the Indy 440-1 heads.
The cracking the Zeeker heads(on most anyway) were from being ported. The thickness(all the same thickness) of the casting were not the best on them. But most head porters knew this and did not push it to the limit on opening them up.
The int and exh ports are in the same location as the Indy -1.
I had a set that made some really great power.
No porosity issues with min that people always mention.
Mine were fully ported, used and Indy Dominator intake and 5/16 valves.
Mine oiled through the block like stock heads but they were tapped and a pill inserted to restrict the amount of oil going to the heads, they didn't oil like the -1 with the external oil lines.
Standard Pistons, standard valvcovers, etc.
They use the same rockers, actually the part number for Harland Sharp has a -z in it because they were designed for the zeeker but they also work on the -1s.
I wanted to slow my car down so I traded them for a set of Indy -1s that were not ported.
