I may just have to bop up to Duhloot for dat dere den.
Here in St. Paul , the powers that be like to welcome the street rod nationals and back to the 50's with the street cleaning crews during cruise nights.
They won't pay them overtime to plow the snow at night or on the week end , but Friday and Saturday nights , they get the tank trucks full of water to hose down the roads and piss off the people who generate millions in revenue for the local economy.

That really looks like a good time.........I have delivered cars to Kia of Duluth and no one I met struck me as a car kind of guy.
Good for them !
If I have the Dart screwed together in time for this deal , I am all in.

yeah, tell me about the hospitality from the p.d. in st. paul. i was down for car craft a couple of years ago, and got pulled over in my 69 sat. for loud exhaust.not speeding, not driving reckless etc....just cruising down university ave @ 20- 3- m.p.h. the officer and i had a long heated discussion about the "crime fighting" that he was doing by harassing some tourists(us)who, like you said are spending tons of money over a 3 day weekend in his town, while without a doubt, within a 1 mile radius from that very spot; there were drug deals going down or a woman getting beated or worse. he was not very impressed with me when i told him that this was a chicken sh*t ticket he was giving me and that he must really feel like an asset to the police department and really made his badge shine! it was rather funny, more squads showed up (i suppose because we were posing a "threat" or starting a riot) and began yelling at us and threatining us with towing the car/ jail!!! i then got him to calm down and politely asked him on what grounds do they judge "loud exhaust" by.. he stated that was his opinion. i then asked him if it is opinion and not a measured metered level, then was it possible that maybe on of his peers or perhaps a citizen might have an opinion that the harley davidson police bike he was riding may have "loud" exhaust???!!! he flipped his lid sceaming that this was not a debate!!!! it was well worth the $118.00 loud exhaust ticket he gave me... just to watch him try and deal with someone using logic and common sense.

before anyone tries to give me the respect the police routine, let me just state that my dad was a cop and always told me that there was no need for an officer to be a d-bagg, and give out and i qoute him, "chicken sh*t" tickets.

now, back to the topic....this event is really fun. they run 1 car @ a time and time you in the 1/8th mile. how accurate is it?? but at least everyone is on an even playing field.the event brings out alot of fast cars... it's fun to watch 8 sec. cars skate down the street! yes, come on up here for the event. it's a fun day.

there is a couple towns in northern michigan which are close to me that run the same deal. i tried them both , but that's why i tow 3.5 hours to southern michigan to a real strip.
VHT makes a big difference.

we don't go to this event instead of the track, we go in addition to a raceday/weekend at an actual track. it's just another way of getting out and enjoying your car. alot of the spectators haven't ever been to a track but get to see some cool cars that they might not have been able to right here in their own backyard. the same goes for some of the cars... alot of people wound never dream of trailering to the track, but will go to this event for the fun of it. it is was it is, nothing more... just a fun day.
