I sure wouldnt be trilled about 4 abreast... too
many cars at once... I go to watch and 2 is enough
at one time... ya cant see all 4 at once... JMO
but thats their dog and pony show so I guess they'll
do what they want... I'm glad that place isnt close
to me.... I always thought they could run 2 lanes
and if they had a oil down they would move over to
the other lanes.... but I guess thats not how it works

As close as the competition is these days,hope they got video screens all over the track for instant replay for the fans in the stands.

the article says that in the 1st round two cars will advance to the second round...
so after the 1st round there will be 8 cars left..
and it goes on to tell ya what happens in the second round...
Qualifying will be conducted in all four lanes
Each category winner will be determined in three rounds of eliminations
The first two drivers across the finish line in each of the first rounds of eliminations will advance to the second round
The first two drivers to cross the finish line in each of the second rounds will advance to the final
Each final round will include four drivers, with one driver as the winner and one as second, third and fourth

Takes out all 4 cars
life and property or oil down 2 lanes or more they got the 
cleanup crew ? Going to get exspenive on mulitple teams banging on each other .If i want this i'll go to watch soap box cars

The NHRA said its Lucas Oil series will be conducted in the traditional two-lane format, running some classes in the left two lanes and others in the right.The NHRA is going four-wide.

Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock bike will be running 4 wide. Here is a question:
Fuel guys already whine about the other driver taking too long to stage, and what about Pro Stock staging? 4 lane burndowns?
Another ridiculous side show from NHRA. If it was exhibition, no problem. But this is real eliminations...... yuk.

At least there is a large concete barriar down
the center seperating the two sets of lanes,
so more than likely an out of control car will
only take out the one car it is next to.
And yes circus is the correct discription of what
they are going to be doing.

I was there for the first 4 wide last year.Boy it was a sight,and the sound was like nothing I've ever heard.It was cool,but to go see a hole race like that is going to suck.There is a wall between the two tracks.

I think Bruton Smith had a lot more to do with this then NHRA did, Bruton usually gets his way in the end....c'mon it's one race, what other tracks have four lanes

That's exactly what I was thinking too. I'm sure NHRA didn't order Bruton to build a 4 lane track. IIRC, the city/county didn't want the track at all and Bruton bullied them until he got his way.
Besides, so many people whine that they want drag racing to be like it was in the old days, here's your chance to go see it how it used to be. Lots of tracks used to run 4 wide. US 30 called them 'Jungle Races'.

wont effect me or what or where i go racing
i'm a weekend racer just tring to get my race car together
