A-990 Hood scoop - 01/11/10 04:08 AM

Does anyone on here know if the 65 A-990 hoodscoop will cover a Indy 4150 style single plane intake on a Hemi w/aircleaner? the car is a 65 Coronet w/schumacher mnts, I'd like to pick up a scoop at Indy swap and it is one of the last things I need, car is a street/strip car hence the aircleaner, thanks Steve

The A990 might be a little tight, but the 65' AFX scoop will. It is a taller version of the A990. Now if you want one, don't go fiberglass, ask if Harms smith here will fab one using there A990 template. It might be expensive.
I made my own 65" AFX scoop out of aluminum and it can clear a skyscraper. It totally looks original.

i had a 1964 savoy with a hemi, barton single 4bbl intake, dominator, it fits under a stock a990 hood scoop, no carb mounted air cleaner, i had a pan seal to the hood and air cleaner was inside the front of the hood scoop.

Thanks hemi-itis.
This is the home made scoop I fabricated out of aluminum. It was a weeks time in the making because of different places where it was conceived by part.
I first started out by making the first break bends on the staircase banisters of my Mothers building., then hammering it out on a Brooklyn Navy Yard blacksmith table before bringing to my good friend at a welding shop to run the aluminum weld beads.
There was nothing like it out in the market at the time and after I mentioned to Kramer automotive specialties to make one for the coming outlaw Nostalgia trend with out no results, I made it myself.
The 1965 Factory altered wheel base AFX cars had these right out of box.

Thanks for the ideas and pics, is the Barton intake shorter than the Indy? If I had a bond jig I'd like to make one out of composite,I need to put the motor and trans in and see where I am at height wise.
