Snap-on generator??????? - 01/07/10 02:12 AM

did anyone know that snapon made generator? does any one have one. i am looking for a generator to buy this year. i would love to have a honda but can not afford one. i bought one from harbor freight and tool a while ago and returned it three days later as it fell apart in that short of a time.
any others i should look at? i was thinking around 2k - 4k watts yet portable enough to take to the track and keep at home in case the power goes out again.

I don't know what your budget will allow but we bought a Honda eu2000i a few years ago and absolutely love it!! Portable, quiet and powerful! I have seen them advertised for $899.00 which is a great deal.

I have two honda EU 2000i generators and they are very quiet and reliable. They can be hooked up parallel for a total of 4000w. The box store generators are pretty much throw a ways and they irrate everyone around them.
Try RY.net for used hondas and yamaha generators.
The invertor models are the good ones.

I can't even imagine what a "SNAPON" genset would sell for except probably way too much.....as stated above Generac is a decent piece for the money, but I would try and find even a used Honda in good shape as they are the cream of the crop as far as I'm concerned...

If you do come up with the money for a Honda (which would be highly recommended), CHAIN IT UP at the track. They tend to grow legs and show up on Craigslist!

I have a 4000 watt Onan... been pretty good but it
has a problem now that I'll look at in the spring
(just a relay problem)... if I buy another gen, it'll
be a Honda or Yamaha. I have a Genset for the house but
it just sits there(I start it once a month to keep
the battery up)

Too bad you're not closer. I have a Honda EM5000 gen that I'd part ways with.

Just bought a honda 2000 local for $700 in perfect condition, even had the box! I agree chain it up! I've even seen my Dad giving it the hairy eyeball!

Whisper quiet unless I've got the air compressor on it. Even at full load it's not objectionable! I generator noise! Honda or yamaha is the only option for me

What size (watts) generator you looking to get, what will you be wanting to run off it.

need to know this before going out and buying a gen.

I would not buy a snapon gen as there made by someone else, and you can get them cheaper someone where else.

the honda eu2000 are rated at 1600 running watts not 2000 watts. the eu3000 running watts are 2800

I just bought a Homelite 2250 watt with a 5hp Tecumseh on graigslist for $100.00

Waved my majic 9/16 wrench over it and a spit shine now it works and looks like new! It's a little loud but I'll make a custom exhaust for it

this snapon was 3000watts continuous and sold for $350ish at sam's club.
i was looking for something portable enough to take to the track and charge batterys and coffe pot lights, not too much at the track. but wanted a big enough one for home to run the heat and fridge. i ran a 1250 coleman at home and was small but did the job. i am looking at around 2k- 3.5k watts now. for around the 3- 400 dollar range.
